What a lame excuse. One was a regular season game while the other is a chance to get into a grand final. Should we wait again for the next few seasons until we make a grand final qualifier where the conditions are to our liking? Then it’ll be some other excuse.
Mate. I don’t think I can help because you sound like Tommy Raudounikis after 12 schooners.

The weather is a factor whether you like it or not. Wouldn’t dare pretend that it should be used as an excuse and haven’t done thus far but also wouldn’t be stupid enough to pretend it isn’t a factor.

All things considered I think we will beat Canberra and lose to the Cows. The weather in Townsville won’t be the reason that we lose.

Teams have gone up there early in the year and beat them, which I suspect would be even harsher conditions.

If you're good enough, you're good enough.
So if we win does that mean the conditions weren’t a factor? That would be a very simplistic assessment. A single win or loss proves very little.

No, all I am seeing is that teams have gone to Townsville and beat them in what is likely to be harsher conditions than what we might face if we go there.

Nobody’s waiting for anything. Assuming we beat Canberra the team will go up there thinking they can win, and they will be a chance. But the Cowboys will also be thinking they can win and they’ll be at home and the betting agencies will have them as favourites.

Either team could win this Friday but I think we’re more chance. If we play in Townsville the following week we’re also a chance, but the Cowboys will be deserved favourites.

And I’m sure teams have lost in milder conditions. Cherry-picked data points don’t prove or disprove anything. Long term, the Cowboys have a very good record in the tropics. Much better than other clubs.

So by that logic, last year and the first game this year were all 2 point games, the second game this year would have been a 2-4 point game, and in last weeks final we were winning until our halfback and chief playmaker got taken off, and yet we got our "pants pulled down"?

Makes sense.

Penrith had us smoked by time Moses went off. Don't care what you blue eyed goggled supporters want to convince yourself. We where done.
Can we turn it around is the question? Sure we can. Think Waqa drop 4 bombs, Sivo and Jnr a simple play the ball error. That's 6 sets we gave them at important times.
Forget the Gutherson forward pass as we where chasing tails. But those other 6 errors f**ked us. Took gas out of our tank and fueled up there's.
I'd say we handed them 12 points with these. Now take that away and it may of been 8-7 at the 60th minute mark and anyone's game still.

I bet you a $20 come kick off we are favourites against Cowboys.

You’re contradicting yourself. Will the weather be the reason we lose or will it not be a factor?

Whether we win or lose there will be many contributing factors. Just saying it’s all about the coach would be a sign of ignorance. I bet you won’t be praising the coach if we win.
I always give credit where it’s due (as I have to Brad Arthur if you go back and read my post history) and I criticise when it’s warranted.

I can think of plenty of excuses as to why Penrith could have not won the premiership last season. They lost in round 1 so they could have been low on confidence. They had the pressure of Ivan being the longest serving coach without a premiership, they played a Melbourne side away from home that was one of the statistically best sides ever, they were banged up.
I understand that there are many factors that go into making a grand final but the fact of the matter is that this is the best position we’ve ever been in to make one since 2009. If we don’t do it then I would consider this season a failure. I’m not really interested in excuses because if you squint hard enough you can justify anything.
