Ahhmmm, plenty would consider it when the 4th place happened in the 9th season as coach, with no silverware, besides a wooden spoon in those 9 years.
As a fan, I too long for the day that we raise the premiership trophy, but I reckon it’s a very narrow minded view to think that a head coach’s job description consists of a one line “win the comp”.

BA has taken us from an absolute basketcase team, very much like the Wests Tigers now, to a contender each and every year.

So when I see the ‘9 years’ thing repeated ad nauseam I see the obvious fan frustration, but I also see it as reactionary and poorly considered overreaching.

That’s not how you run a business and that’s not how you achieve success. By all means review the systems that are in place as the monolith that is the Parramatta Eels starts from junior pathways and runs a decade forward to the NRL side.

From time to time boards need to appoint new a CEO to refresh and realign corporate objectives. So by all means undertake that review and if it is time to switch the guy who is at the helm then you do so. When you do this it should be done in a considered, measured and respectful manner and that includes the transition. This protects the brand and insulates momentum. What you do not do is drag the business through the mud like some awkward hollywood divorce to achieve change.

We will win tonight. If we don't. We are 0/8 to get to week 3. Hindy111 is $100 richer. Pou is $100 poorer.

BA gets analed

I just don't see us not winning.

If we dont win it will be down to us.

We have enough talent and raiders have enough defensive flaws to get through them at home.

Aim up defensively and keep raiders to 3 tries at most we should be winning this.

Well I'm not sure what you meant by the let that sink in bit but hey.
Because self-sabotage is destructive, counterproductive and in the end benefits nobody. Merkins are getting so wrapped up in their own perspective, they are tone deaf to the potential consequences.

Imagine preferring to miss the semis, which impacts memberships, sponsorships, club morale and recruitment opportunities so you can sack a coach who is off contract soon anyway ? What sort of a blinkered narcissistic view is that ?

"..I'd be happy for us to miss the Top 8 from here if it meant change."

This is an actual quote from this fan site in August, 2022. Let that sink in.

That was me and I don’t regret saying that. The actual quote was something along the lines of I’d rather miss the 8 than go out like a wet fart in week 2 again. I think you’ll find if we lose tonight a lot of fans will agree with me. You might be content with seeing us repeated get knocked out of the second week of the finals but I’m not. I want us to win a premiership and I hope we kick the Raider’s arse tonight.

Certainly was, and I stand by it.

I will also say that my comment was more around change to the coaching staff setup, not just the head coach, and this has since happened with the appointment of Barrett and the club apparently to get a new assistant coach to look after defence. At a minimum the head coach needed some fresh ideas.

Although, if we're beaten tonight, and only use 2 interchange forwards, the coach should tender his resignation before midnight.

But it isn't self sabotage. It's a fan commenting on something they have no control over. And you agreed that the poster wants a long term gain so none of that applies.
