The 2022 Dally M Awards has arrived and one of the tightest counts in years is set to decide who etches their name into the rugby league history books.
A first-time winner is expected, with Dragons halfback Ben Hunt on top of the leaderboard on 19 points when voting went behind closed doors after Round 12.
The St George Illawarra skipper sat just ahead of Panthers lock Isaah Yeo (17 points) and Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes (16 points).
A 3-2-1 voting system throughout the regular season sees players poll at the discretion of an independent judge - usually a former player - allocated to each match.
Players are still eligible if they are suspended for just one game, however they lose three points off their tally. Multiple suspensions or multi-week bans rules a player out of contention.
The reigning Dally M Medal winner is Manly fullback Tom Trbojevic and this year’s awards will be held at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
