What makes you think he's a great coach? Because he jagged a premiership?
Has a better win % than Arthur with a smaller football budget as you are always referring to as the most important part of success and if we are honest jagging a premiership would be the dream of every fan in here. I think he has a harder edge and would get the players playing their best more consistently.

The Cronulla junior leagues are flying, he helped set up it all up. Another tick, but after the whole peptides thing I don’t think anyone will touch him.

We were happy to touch Elkin after the peptides thing... that was something the Sharks coach at the time potentially didn't know about (though probably should have).

How do you know he had a smaller budget? With the consistent quality of the Sharks junior system they would be spending plenty on football related costs.

The financial reports show football department income and outgoings, we are talking about 7-12 years ago i and I believe at the time Parramatta had a larger juniors base while the leagues club were happy to pump in millions each year, not sure what happened since the new stadium opened but the PLC is less willing to put money in.

The success of the Storm and Roosters shows the size of the junior base is irrelevant. Penrith are having recent success because of increased spending, not because their junior catchment has gotten bigger in the past few years.

As for how much the Eels spend, I showed recently how we spend far less than Penrith, and since 2016 (the earliest annual report I could find) our spending has been very inconsistent:

Here's the Eels' football-related expenses in recent years:

2016: $9.1M
2017: $6.3M
2018: $8.3M
2019: $10.0M
2020: $5.9M
2021: $7.5M
2022: $11.8M
