ROSTER SPOTS LEFT:

1

HEALTH CHECK:

D

Elijah Anderson (ankle, R16), Trey Mooney (hand, R16-18), Adrian Trevilyan (shoulder/knee, R21), Corey Harawira-Naera (concussion, indefinite)

WHO THEY NEED TO SIGN

Waqa Blake. The Raiders are skinny in the outside backs, with Jordan Rapana becoming a Mr Fix-It at fullback, wing and centre. Waqa Blake is unlikely to be re-signed by the Eels and in order to shed money from their cap, would be interested in letting the speedy wing or centre go mid-year.

Anyone happy to drive waqa down to Ricky and deliver him personally.

So they’re talking up Moses for game 2. Does this mean they intend to keep Hynes on the bench to play 10 mins? Doesn’t make a lot of sense.
The problem with Luai/Hynes is their kicking wouldn't be as good, though not materially worse than Cronulla's. Burton is also incumbent in the squad, and his long kicking game is pretty good.

Burton’s playmaking abilities in the red zone are pretty average though. The Bulldogs attack is terrible and Burton has to take responsibility for that.

Hoops repeated it on MMM today. This is crazy. Freddy should have said from day 1 that his halves are Cleary then Moses and Hynes is there for experience. Now it just comes across as ad hoc panic selections.

Meanwhile he picks Moses and LOL what are the Eels going to do then ? We might as well seek special permission to play Rachael Pearson, cos she’s the only 7 left in the club.

I think it would be better for Mitch's experience and growth as a player if he plays SOO2. We need our boys playing in the big games.

Well we won't be playing in the big games this year if Moses plays for NSW as I don't think we will play finals with slip ups against Manly or the warriors at Home with no halves.

And as @Gronk said its a suicide mission in game 2. Moses will just have the confidence knocked out of him being labelled scapegoat.

678 votes on a poll on channel 9 who should be halfback between moses, Reynolds and Hynes.

Only 14% want Moses picked for NSW.

Reynolds, and Hynes both had 43%.

If Moses played for any team besides the Tigers and Eels he would have 90% of the votes but merkins are merkins.

Moses selection is a great reward for him. I don’t think there is that much pressure on him really. Nsw expected to lose in Qld even if at full strength. As long as he doesn’t have a complete shocker I don’t see him being a scapegoat. When you think about it when did Moses last have a bad game? I cant even recall the last time. Sure he has some games he isn’t super involved in, but that is no different to Cleary in every origin game he plays.

As for its impact on Parra.. any fallout should fall squarely on Dyl Brown. I still think we’ll win vs Manly at home. Reckon we might go Asi & Hodgson in the halves and Hands to play 80 at hooker.

everyone should be fine by Saturday to backup ve dolphins. The boys playing origin can just stay up in Brisbane as the rest of the squad will be flying up the next day anyway.

warriors game is probably harder, they are a different team in 23.

If we foreseeably drop that, we’ll have still won 14 from 16 points available in the prior 2 months and will be in the 8

He will get hammered from pillar to post.

Mitch is a whipping boy at the best of times, there will be a big portion of the public and sections of the media ready to let rip.

He got smashed last time in a dead rubber where he set up 2 tries and played 3/4s of the game with a broken back.

I sincerely hope he doesn’t get picked.

Nah we’re going to lose anyway. They are just throwing him to the wolves.

I know a suicide mission when I see one, Moneypenny.

How are you going to grow if you're never challenged? They constantly talk about owning the big moments, they need exposure to those big moments so when they do come they are composed and ready.

I want as many eels playing in this game as possible. I want big game footy to not be a stranger to our boys cause when we do make a gf I want us to be ready.

Moses and Gutho could both cure cancer and still be whipping boys by most NRL fans

If Brown doesn’t play rest of the year…bring in brooks as 6, next year he moves to 14 and plays off the bench as a hooker or halves cover 😮. f**k off hodgson.
I’d been thinking about Brooks as an option is Dyl is rubbed out. Not sure about his value long term, but rest of this year sure
