You don't present whole picture. Dolphins & qld teams get higher ratings in that state by considerable margin..
sigh, you dont say. A local club is more popular, who'd have thought? The Fact remains with dolphins admission Ch9 only got an extra 15k new viewers on avg per game shown in Brisbane. That was despite 47% more local content shown, Broncos making the GF and Yr 1 hype of dolphins.

Perth could well get 10k a game new viewers if Ch9 lifts its game.

What is more appealing to advertisers?! Getting largest audience in 3rd biggest city or 10k in another?! I know which one nine would tout more!!

Its a nonsense thing to focus on. Qld ppl watch qld team in larger numbers. Hence, nine wanting more qld teams.
It equates to only 15k people per game over the season in Brisbane lol. I can see why Ch9 didnt want to pay anymore money, its turned out to be a bit worthless to their audience growth.

..except dolphins along with other qld teams outperformed everybody else.

Self defeating argument from you, coz ur pretty much arguing for more qld teams if you want to bump that average more

Its a meh increase for ch9 and puts to bed that ch9 would be falling Ove themselves for another Brisbane team over elsewhere. It really hasnt added that much to their audience reach. They could just as well get nearly as many from a Perth club.

A Brisbane audience increase of 15k per game avg.
Again of course a local club will get a bigger audience, Doh!
Storm have got 61k when on FTA compared to an avg of 11k in Melbourne for all games

U keeping repeating urself but anyway..of course local team gets higher rating, that's why dolphins were included & why nine want more qld teams.

Dolphins rating almost a third higher than NRL games in 2022. Take out broncos & cowboys games & that figure probably even more stark. To claim dolphins haven't been a ratings success is disingenuous, but not that surprising here..

Finances

the afl will be forced to spend ever increasing money on both clubs as fans and sponsors walk away until they can’t afford it

Brisbane fans are fickle

the lions crowds went from over 32k down to 19k

Brisbane tigers would certainly kill them off if the dolphins themselves don’t do it

once afl collapses in qld nsw will follow

When?

Their crowds went up last year despite the Dolphins and the Broncos. Their lowest crowd average is about 23k - excluding COVID related years.

NRL and fumbleball crowds fluctuate up and down based on team success. They are fairly independent from each other.

After they won 3 straight comps then missed the finals for a year

there’s a video posted on here by the lions themselves saying they are worried about the impact the dolphins are having

but hey you and Perth red have more confidence in them than they do themselves

But that is not right though. I have shown the attendances for their history. Did you look at that attachment? Their lowest average is just over 23k and their highest is over 37k. Also, their average went up last year despite the Dolphins and the Broncos.

If I looked at the Swans attendances, I bet I could match up when they did well to their highest attendances.

It is absolutely clear as day that the only thing that is impacting the Lions’ or the Swans’ attendances are their own performances.

He’s trolling

the fact the dolphins raised the average in a state which already has high ratings is actually surprising

they’ve definitely grown the game in qld

Tell that to the lions that will make them feel better

There was a 47% increase in Brisbane specific content on FTA this season. and only a 15k avg increase per game. Bit meh isnt it? Not sure why ch9 would be so excited for Brisbane3.

Compared to a 23% decrease in AwFuL ratings in Perth?

I know your response.

"Dockers and Eagles were shit. No one watches a loser".

Guess what motherf**ker?

Dolphins finished bottom four on the ladder and got flogged many times. Cowboys finished outside the top eight. So did the Titans. Brisbane still managed a 15% increase in NRL ratings.

A 15k increase in Brisbane is more than a Perth-based team will add.

The overall ratings in Melbourne are just 12k. Without the Storm they're just 8k. That means the Storm are adding just 4k in Australia's second largest market.

WB and donkey have a very strange argument.
one minute AFL is taking over SW Brisbane and we have to have a club there to fight back
next minute the afl is wasting its money in Brisbane and making no impact
then AFL gets good following in brisbane but nrl in perth couldnt possibly

they're all over the place lol
Strawman.

Pointing out that fumbleball has increased AusKick participation in the western corridor isn't the same as saying AwFuL is taking over.

I've said the Lions rate better in Brisbane on a secondary channel than AwFuL games broadcast in Perth that don't involve the Dockers and Eagles.

Keep up!
Brisbane FTA avg game audience. Only increased by 15k this year. Very meh given 47% increased local content, Dolphins hype and Broncos form.
Melbourne's overall average is 12k. Games not involving Storm get 8k. So Storm are adding just 4k per game. Dolphins providing an extra 15k viewers in Brisbane is better than the Storm providing 4k extra viewers in Melbourne.

170k Broncos.
126k Dolphins
134k Cowboys and Titans
98k No Queensland team.

Dolphins average 126k compared to 2022 NRL game average of 96k
