Bit tricky comparing the women's fumbly thing with the NRLW GF. One, a standalone event. The other, part of a day-long extravaganza.
A standalone event that was primetime Saturday night with no other sport on that night. If people wanted to watch it there was no real excuse not to, more than anything it shows folk just aren`t that interested, reflected in the abysmal ratings for the rest of the season.
I`ve said this from the start, both women`s competitions highlight and magnify the potential flaws of both sports, unfortunately for the fumbles its` deficiencies are all too clearly on display in the women`s game.
HST, I think there is a definite problem for fumble fans having women playing their game, not dissimilar to the race issues in the game.
For fumbleball fans it really is a game that can only be played properly by white clean-skinned young men, in line with their image of what Australia should look like.
Ever pitiful, it is going to be interesting to see the line-ups for their soon to be held Indigenous all-stars contest, a contest I`ve heard they have been fearful of holding before for fear of unleashing the worst instincts in fumbleball fans hearts.
Heaven forbid the booing that will be heard if the Indigenous team gets up.
