Doesn`t matter, it`s jobs, jobs, jobs for PNG.
While i would hope it creates more jobs, let's see what wealth it creates for its employees. Remember, multi million dollar resource companies have been in PNG for decades has resulted in a GDP of $4,200 per capita. So Mayur with a market cap of just over $100m and is a loss-making business isn't going to add any material wealth to the population.

“‘nrl.com’ further stated that the Pacific Rugby League Partnership will support investment into grassroots, pathways and elite rugby league across Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji (countries in Oceania). It will also support the introduction of a PNG-based NRL side as part of a future expanded NRL Telstra Premiership “

This money is going to change rugby league across all those nations. Once png is estabslished I can see the Aussie govt switching the deal to a Fiji based pacifika side

PNGRFL Announces National Youth Competition (U18) for 2025

PNGRFL CEO Stanley Hondina and PNG NRL CEO Andrew Hill have officially announced the launch of the National Youth Competition (Under-18) in 2025—one year earlier than originally planned!
This competition is a direct result of the successful junior development programs led by Joe Grima, Head of PNG’s Elite Player Development Pathway. His efforts in identifying and nurturing young talent have helped create this structured pathway for aspiring rugby league stars.
The 2025 season will start with the male U18 competition first, with plans to introduce a female youth competition in the future.
The six teams set to compete in the inaugural season are:
-Central Dabaris
-East New Britain Gurias
-Goroka Lahanis
-Lae Tigers
-Mt. Hagen Eagles
-Port Moresby Vipers

This competition is designed to bridge the gap between the junior rugby league and the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup, providing a clear pathway to the PNG Hunters, PNG Kumuls and the NRL PNG team.
The competition will run for 7 weeks beginning in May 2025.

Good start. Jersey Flegg should be an aim for next year or year after, long season against 13 NRL clubs’ best juniors.
