Andrew Johns admits he "nearly fell over" when the news broke of Dylan Brown's eye-watering 10-year, $14 million contract with his former club Newcastle.

The 24-year-old confirmed this week that he would leave the Parramatta Eels, putting pen to paper on what will be the richest deal in NRL history.

Brown will join the Knights from the 2026 onwards and will immediately form a lethal attacking combination with superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga.

However, the contract has been scrutinised due to Brown's expected role at halfback - something he has rarely done in his first grade career to date.

The fleet-footed Kiwi international has mainly played second fiddle to Mitchell Moses and while there's no doubting his ability, Johns isn't sure about Brown's credentials in the key playmaking role for the next decade in the Hunter.

"I nearly fell over," Johns said on Nine's Freddy and the Eighth.

"The more I thought of it, there's no halfbacks around, so I understand. Is he worth that money? No, not as a five-eighth, but they have bought him as a halfback.

"They've gone chips all in, but this is a huge gamble. He is untried at No.7 and I have worked with Dylan and he has all the tools to be a halfback.

"Moving forward, it looks like it will be Dylan at halfback, Fletcher Sharpe at five-eighth and Kalyn at fullback. It's exciting if they can get it right, but he's untried in that position.

"He's gonna be the main man and gonna need to be the halfback."

A great idea. Here is one I came up with after reading a non fiction book written by Ion L Idriess (who should be a national treasure) titled Lasseter's Last Ride.

Pine Gap is also the location of the vast reef of gold that Lasseter claimed to find in that area.
It was promised to the Yanks in return for a successful defeat of Imperial Japanese Forces in the South Pacific.
Kept secret from the Australian public to avoid the ensuing revolt.

Before anyone goes bananas at me. What about the deadshit throat tattooed merkin called May? It’s been a while but he’s a f**king beast winger or centre is he not?

He’s going to play somewhere. Could we cope if it’s us? Yes I know his past but his size strength and speed would be beneficial right now.

I'm not against it. If he's going to score tries, it might as well be for us. Talent wise he'd be a big upgrade on our current stock.

You might not believe this but I have been a mod on a website before. I tried my password in the admin section and it worked in there too. That website now conducts it's business on Discord.
I didn't deserve it. I only got it cos I am mates with one of the Admins who I think thought I might become a bit more serious with that responsibility.
Like when Brown got to be captain.
I deleted a lot of spam, only ever had to moderate 1 member who highly insinuated physical violence to another member.

That aside, what moderation could a site for conspiracy theories possibly need?
