Some saying Flanagan should have been the 7 and game manager. Gotta chuckle as he has sufficient trouble already managing his own game. This guy has little skill, no vision, no kicking game, he is a trier, nothing else so I can now see why so many clubs jettisoned him. To save him any further embarrassment his old man must have vowed to never drop him again. One of the biggest mistakes our BOD made was to bring a player here whose father coached the same club.

We didnt require either with Liddle playing so well. If Lids needed a breather why not give Finau the Ressie hooker a crack as his deputy. Seems our coach does not rate the Finau brothers.

i thought Kyle was bought primarily as a back up 9 to Lidds
Then the shit hit the fan with Junior Amone and he slotted into 6
Cookie reluctantly came here which didnt fill u with much confidence , and the way Flanno is using him and Lidds is even more puzzling

The Hunt era was notable for its lack of leadership. I assume, along with Gutho and Val, Cook was picked up to fill what was basically a vacuum for many years. But like a lot of fans I would like Liddle to be getting 50 minutes regularly.

I don't think Guthos body will hold up another 2 and a half years at the back. Preety sure the original plan was for Gutho to help Sloan get better and take the spot next year but that doesn't look like happening anymore so who knows.

Tbh I think the signing of Cook for what 2 years is it a complete waste of time.....at best 1 year and thats a stretch ....it's doing nothing for Lids confidence moving forward and for that matter the team......I'm still waiting for the day when these so called experienced players like Hunt and James Graham for example are showing and tutoring our young players in the art, skill and craft of the game....just my opinion

The signing of Cook was to replace the loss of Hunt.

The coach wanted another old hand whose heart is elsewhere, whose best years are behind them and who we can call a captain and can collect a big pay cheque.

McInnes ditched us (even though he was somewhat pushed).
Frizzell fled.
Hunt's heart has always been in QLD.
Cook bleeds red and green, and I guarantee he is back at Souths coaching the day after we are done with him.

We can't even get our captains right.

It's easy to talk up signings like Woods, Mbye and Cook and publicly announce all their wonderful qualities and experience but these signings are just convenience signings.

Cook has been okay. He is versatile. But it's all very underwhelming when we should be building for our future. Liddle could have mentored the next guy coming through.

Liddle is quick and can barge over near the line, but otherwise isn’t the greatest 9. Passing is average. Hoping he can learn some things off Cook and improve the rest of his game. If he can, he can be a great 9 for us with the natural speed he has.
