Wow, could you give us some examples (with time stamps so I can check the replay) of all this game changing off the ball work he's doing, that us idiots are obviously missing.

If you're willing to watch the game closely you'll see it.

Some only see the stats at the end of the game. They see that as the beginning, middle and end of the show.

In my opinion that's a shallow way of viewing the game.

Who's doing that though?

I went and rewatched (most of) the Brisbane game, paying particular attention to Martin. I think the idea he's not putting in is probably a bit harsh, but he does look off the pace, if only in the context of an elite backrower. Lumbering a bit at times, slightly slow to react to opposition plays, marginally out of sync with the line both with and without the ball. He still puts in for an effort play at times and his contact is good on both sides of the ball (when he gets it), but honestly he looked like a prop playing backrow. He could be carrying an injury, down on fitness or maybe father time is doing his thing and signalling that it's time for him to reinvent his game in a different part of the field.

No but it goes with what those on here are seeing
Both Yeo and Nath have said the same…. That doesn’t seem to go with what people on here are saying….

The people on here have also been saying if for years…

It really doesn’t fit

Martin isnt a kikau or a hamole type of 2nd rower.

His game is built on the 1% plays that go unnoticed.

Very similar in a way to dylan edwards.. and its the same reason many including a lot on here didnt notice dylan for a long time..

People love to see the attacking side of the game.. when teddy makes a brilliant run to set up a try it makes the highlights. When kikau or hamole run over 3 blokes to score it makes the highlights.

Martins line speed, tenacity, being first on kick chases.. pressuring playmakers etc largely goes unnoticed to the average fan.

The same way dylan making a try saving tackle on one side of the field and then being there to clean up a kick on the other on the last... and the taking a hit up when hes gassed goes or at least used to goes unnoticed as well.

That stuff isnt sexy and isnt highlight reel territory. The average fan doesnt notice that stuff.

If you needed a 2nd rower to shut down munster i wouldn't pick any other 2nd rower in the comp.

I would like to see nath using him a bit better then just a battering ram tho. A bit of early ball to get him one on one would be nice.

I think the issue is we dont really have an impact forward.. maybe patea will be that guy. But most of our forwards are solid workhorses.

If we had a 30min impact forward who can offload and break tackles at will then it allows other guys like martin to continue to do what has won us 4 gfs in a row. Ill say that again.. the way martin and co play has won us 4 gfs in a row.. has to be doing something right.

I love soro and hes been a great servant for the club. He probably deserves one big last pay day and should maybe look to go to england and fill the pockets.

Garner has been great id like to keep him. Paps is looking better and better.

But i still think we need a real big forward who can play an edge for two 15min stints and carve up.

Everyone is very well aware of what Martin offers but the difference between club and rep games is substantial and that's just a fact.
It’s different because the games are a different intensity. They are even reffed differently.

The point is we NEVER see that aggression. 5 mins of that at the right point can win games. When he plays QLD he's trying to hurt them EVERY tackle.

You’re being dramatic, Martin brings aggression almost every game, it’s just not as noticeable because of the occasion.

He’s the current CC medalist for pity sake.

You need to control your emotions a bit more. You wanted to sell Dylan Edwards last game! Hahaha

This is just ridiculous. Sure he hasnt been in good form but he is always aggressive, literally always looking to hit people hard shoot out of the line and be aggressive, i dont know how you can type that with straight face.

I want a no judgement zone around Luron Patea this weekend. Even further than that. Give him the same 5 weeks Jack Cole received. Or longer as we are fast approaching rep season.

In Townsville Patea is already tested. Big bopper in the heat. Just 20 minutes in very short stints he may well die trying. Not expecting much.

I want a barnstorming Luron in our run at Commbank. After Newcastle in Bathurst we play 6 out of our next 7 games in Parramatta. He can make it his home and become a new fan favourite.

I reckon Ivan is prepping him up for middle
I hope he doesn’t play middle for a while. He’s 100kg dripping wet so I’m not sure how his body would hold up, he isn’t known for an offload and his knack of putting wingers and fullbacks under pressure when there is a highball will probably become less effective due to workload or disappear from his game entirely.

That's ok you guys will catch up as always.

He is one of the most outwardly aggressive players in the comp in terms of how he defend, its not even an opinion its a fact, he is constantly out of the line looking for a hit, always niggling and in peoples faces, kick chase is always really good, he is always get down and smash the winger or fb and then he is looking to back it up with another shot, it pisses me off tbh cause he gives away alot of penalties doing. Again im not saying he is in good form but saying he never plays with aggression is just flat out incorrect and easy to demonstrate, just watch a game.
