No. But a team comprising Will Kennedy, Tom Starling and Terrell May would get stomped by the QLDers.

And the worst thing of all, it would give those bloody Cane Toads the opportunity to say ‘NSW don’t get origin’ and be right.
To be honest I was hoping NSW would pick will Kennedy as fullback and get stomped on so everyone would stop carrying on like is a legend. But really he is the most overated fullback in the comp

Edwards wasn't that guy for a while into his career. He was always super fit but this idea he was exactly the same is just silly sausage territory.

Debuted in 2016 played only a few games.
2017 played 14 games slowly worked into fg.
2018 suffered a season ender early in the year.

So 2019 was basically hes first full year of fg.. and even that year he missed a bit through injury.

2020 onwards hes been elite. So basically hes first 40 odd games were spread over a few years due to injury etc. And of course his form was up and down as he was basically still a rookie and constantly injury plagued.

The last 5.5 years hes basically been able to play most games and is now the aus and nsw fb. Hes played almost 160 games. The first 40 odd were extremley broken over about 4 years. Hes been playing the same consistentency for the last 5.5 years where hes played the majority of his footy.

And in the last 2 games he's been out jumped by a prop and another time he simply didn't bother to contest a kick and just watched Hunt catch it then score.

Dyl is very similar to Martin in that they need to throw 100% at everything or they just aren't effective

Holy Moley, you are such a negative Nancy,

Over the last 5 years Edwards has been elite and saved countless tries, yet this is what you concentrate on.

Mistakes happen

Martin’s a great player, no argument, but Ben Garcia racked up better numbers for us in regular season.

I’d genuinely think Geyer would currently offer us more on an edge.

That explains my thoughts exactly.....the continual harping on and on......I notice that Tago is off the list ATM. I wonder though, for how long.......

It's not just about stat numbers. Only looking at stats (in my opinion) is a shallow way to view a game. Because they don't tell all the story. The pressure that's applied to kickers, Martin and others do this each and every week. The leaps to catch the ball in either defense and attack.....There is no stat to show that....such important aspects of the game, that can't be measured.

It's not hard to understand. A bunch of fans and not just on here said tago needs to be dropped. Ivan did it and tago started playing like we all said he could. It's not a coincidence.

And even Greg Alexander has let slip before there was doubts if he'd be the fullback going forward at one stage. He got there and good for him but to say it was super obvious how it was going to turn out is just wrong.

Dylan Edwards was dropped in 2019 too, and look at what he's done since.

Sometimes dropping players works.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have Martin play off the bench for a game or two.

If nothing else, we would learn a lot about his attitude.

Exactly. People act like it's a personal insult and you must not want the player at the club. Players have been getting dropped and recalled for 100 years.

I think a switch to the bench could be a good option for Martin also. He isnt in good form and we have Garner and Papalii who are playing well, 20 minutes on the bench has done wonders for tago so far.

I also agree Dylan hasnt been great form this year, but overall he is super consistent so its not worry but he has been making mistakes he doesnt usually make. Great against brisbane though.

The only thing in the Martin chat i dont agree with is he doesnt play with aggression with us consistently. TBH i think when he is bad form like now he overcompensates by putting extra into his defence and it often hurts us cause he gives away penalties. He didnt give any away on the weekend so hoepfully that continues but post orgin if his form hasnt picked up there is nothing wrong with starting Papalii/garner imo.

Where did i say it was super obvious hahah? Your literally just making shit up...

Gregs doubts where regarding him not being able to stay on the park and his injury issues.

I saw enough early on and in nyc to know dyl was going to be a special player. Hes had that work ethic and never give up attitude always.

Obviously Dyl is our best ever fullback but those 2 mistakes the last 2 weeks are very VERY poor. Hopefully he can build into the season and he doesn't get hurt playing Origin

Edwards went through a patch in 2019 where no one could have predicted he would bounce back and end up where he is now. His effort was obvious early on. I remember thinking we had our own version of Tedesco in his debut game even as a winger based on his effort area plays. Who would have known he would be the superior player?

He's not really but he knows to stay the f**k out of the way, well in rep games anyway

Met quite a few good judges at the club who said Edwards would be a rep fullback. This was around 2017.

To be fair though. Those same judges had similar thoughts about a lot of our juniors. Not saying they were wrong. They have a great eye for talent. You just can't really know which players will kick on. It's a cut-throat business.

We struck gold re-signing him. Got his extension done in 2020 before Covid hit:

And this one is a doozy. The SMH in 2019 suggested we were going to sack him to go to NQ:

I’m not convinced he could see the ball in the hunt try, he’s was behind the post, that’s a tough place to come from. Usually a half should cover that. It was a cracking kick.

How about his work stopping the try down the right 2 v 1.

Elite fullback play wouldn’t you agree.
