All very awesome!

Glad the government is using the mandate to drag the dinosaurs into the future.
Renewables have come on in leaps and bounds and coal fired power station operators haven’t invested in maintaining their assets given the uncertainty about their future.

There is an interesting discussion about life-cycle that will need to be had around renewables in time, but at the moment the focus is purely on the transition and getting as much into the system as possible.

Either way, I agree that phasing out thermal coal is the right thing to do.

I cant see us being 100% renewable at any stage, unless we invest heavily in power storage and to do that we will need to greatly improve our infrastructure to get power to the storage facility.

Battery energy storage dams of various sizes are a brilliant solution and I think they have overtaken Elon's bank of Tesla batteries.

Whatever works the best for the future we should be using be that Renewables or Nuclear.

Though if we do need a combination and are using Gas it would be great if we aren't getting gauged though..

We already have enough gas in this country but we send it overseas and the ship it back and pay out the ass..

Maybe you should ask @Delboy who signed that gas contract that literally f**ked our energy security for 30 years ?

Lol at Jacinta Price... as if that "defection" from one part of the Coalition to another is going to change anything.

I think it's really just about shoring up her place higher on the 2028 election Senate ticket, given the shrinking Coalition vote? She doesn't want to be like the (former) Nationals Deputy Leader who missed out being re-elected this time around, simply because the Coalition Senate vote tumbled and they couldn't get 3 senators in her state any more.

Or if she does have leadership ambitions, I hope she tries to switch to the lower house in 2028 for the Libs in one of the two NT seats, and gets wiped out completely.

"The Liberals now hold as few as nine of 88 metropolitan seats, making this a matter of maths rather than opinion."

Lol, a stunning failure - in the parts of this country where the vast majority of people actually live. And something that an Angus Taylor / Jacinta Price leaderhsip (leadershit?) combo won't change.

Another choice quote from a Lib:
“This is the economic mismanager [sic] and MAGA campaign destroyer combining forces to take the Liberal Party further to the right than Peter Dutton could have ever dreamed of,” said one senior Liberal. “It demonstrates the tone-deaf approach they displayed throughout the campaign.”

Greens lost (potential) votes - or votes that counted for their lower house seats - for many reasons beyond their stance on Israel's occupation of Gaza.

The fact all of their MPs were dickheads, and incapable of being good reps for their electorates, for a start. They need to go back to being a mainly Senate party, and focussing mainly on positive achievements for the Environment.

Why? Because it’s the truth.
The Greens didn't lose seats because of anything other than election stuff. Dutton's BS about jews is nothing but gaslighting.

For example, in Victoria they lost the one seat. Previously Adam Bandt won the seat with a margin of 6.5%. This time around, their vote count was fundamentally the same (-0.7%) but because the LNP lost voters and their votes and preferences were certainly not going to Greens, they ultimately flowed to Labor. In summary, the demise of the conservatives caused the death of the greens.

Three cheers for that.

Isn't Duttons BS on the Jews classified as election stuff?
Plus all the facts and figures you pointed out and ultimately the preferences is what Dutton was going on about in his tweet? 🤔

to be 100% always no emissions electricity then the options for the last 10% or so are
- pumped hydro - need to find suitable locations - pretty expensive
- batteries - may be limited if we get many days with low renewables - will help get to 90%
- green hydrogen - use electrolysis to generate hydrogen with excess renewables - burn it in gas turbines when renewables are low. Still not commercially proven
- nuclear

No, Dutton was just doing conservative virtue signalling. Not much else he can do I guess, since he's currently "between jobs"?

Hope he lands a new job soon though... maybe as a Sky After Dark presenter? Or whatever Scomo, Abbott and similar dicks end up doing - travelling the world and being paid to speak at right-wing conferences of the gullible 😂.

Or end up in the jungle on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here...
