BA made the finals 4 years in a row (top 4 twice). That's not luck.

The only luck he had, was the lack of injuries going into the 2022 finals. 2020, we lose our hookers. 2021, we lose 3 starting backs (Fergo, Sivo, Jennings). While 2022 was fairly injury free.
Hi Brad, good internet connection in Leeds??

Id imagine also got lucky with a wooden spoon and we extended him, when we could have got Wayne Bennett or gone elsewhere from 2019. Daniel Anderson, half a season in from a GF , We look to hire a rookie.

Got into to the grand final in 2022 on the back of that horrible forward pass call, ironically making the GF activated a two year extension clause. Bit of luck there too

Why Parramatta knocked back Wayne Bennett

Parramatta rejected an approach that could have resulted in Wayne Bennett coaching the Eels instead of the Rabbitohs in Saturday night’s finals clash at Bankwest Stadium.
An intermediary acting for Bennett approached Eels chairman Sean McElduff just as the latter was stepping in to replace predecessor Max Donnelly late in the 2018 season. At that point Bennett’s job at Brisbane was on shaky ground, despite having a further season remaining on his contract.

At the same time, Brad Arthur was also a man under pressure. The Eels were expected to go to another level in 2018 after finishing in the top-four the previous season. However, Arthur’s side never got out of the blocks, failing to recover after losing their opening six matches. They finished the season with the wooden spoon, prompting an all-encompassing review which some predicted could cost Arthur his job.
It was in this environment that a meeting was brokered in which a Bennett associate put forward the veteran coach’s desire to coach Parramatta. While countless managers have purported to represent the 70-year-old without his knowledge or consent, the Eels were satisfied this approach was genuine.

The third party expressed Bennett’s desire to work at a major Sydney club and pointed to his unmatched record of seven premierships as proof that he could turn the blue and golds into a genuine contender.

However McElduff, in his first big decision as chairman, had already identified the man he believed would lead Parramatta to grand final glory.
And we wonder why we haven't won a comp in 40 years with braindead decisions like that.

I imagine Bennett coaching us between 2019-2022 he would have matched what Arthur did in the regular seasons.

But pushed that group closer to the promised land come finals time. Bennett knows how to win finals & Arthur didn't.

It wasn't on talent more to do with mindset & prep that cost us some big games.

And for the argument that Wayne Bennett leaves clubs in a mess once he leaves and its a big risk.

Well what has Jason Ryles just walked into right now in the past 12 months taking up this job.

Wayne Bennett has become a bad coach?
Well, if the recent data is pointing that way... who knows, he may never win another premiership, or improve that rating about 43% or whatever.

Now go and start a "Wins until Bennett gets above 43% in the past 2.5 years" thread, and keep yourself busy elsewhere!

Does he leave them in a mess or does he get out when the premiership window ends and it’s time to rebuild?
Has he actually wanted to leave his past few jobs though

Bennett didnt want to leave Brisbane in 2018 he said that numerous times they punted him for Seibold thanks to Karl Morris ego wanting to be king of the castle instead of letting Bennett stay until he was ready to go.

Souths came up with the master plan with Demetriou to take over Bennett then come crawling back 3 years after he left to get him back there in worse shape then when he left.

If Bennett was committed to souths after 2021 i doubt they let Reynolds go and there premiership window probably does stay open.

Plenty of hypotheticals in there

But i think clubs have underestimated how long Bennett wants to keep coaching for continually pushing for succession plans.

Just give him the job until he says he has had enough if you pay his rate he will stay.

This NRL360 crew just seem to make things up as they go. Now suddenly Galvin is off to the Bulldogs because Sexton hasn’t signed yet and Gus posted something cryptic? Never mind the fact Galvin can’t speak to any club until November 1. And now Anasta’s asking if he’s even signed with the Eels? Seriously, Braith — you were regularly voted most overrated in player polls, and now you’re starting to seriously get on my nerves with your takes on this show. What a dribbler. You’re edging real close to the shit list.

And that poisonous turd, Webster and the nepo brother-Crawley, spare me.
When Moses was on 100% footy and they asked him about Galvin, he was silently grinning

Just watched it on streaming, seems they were all relatively convinced Galvin to the dogs is a good chance, or better chance than to Eels.

I know many here are quite confident he’s ours - but the $10m question quickly becomes what is our plan if we don’t get him. No one within our system is ready or has the ceiling we need in that role next to Moses. We have a rookie 1 and 9 already, and no team is being competitive with 3 from 4 spine players being under 30 games.
I honestly don’t think it’s a big deal if he doesn’t come, someone else will come along for half the price and more established, at the end of the day, Moses will run the show, granted when fit, therefore only someone competent and more so committed
