I'm pretty sure most of those stands at NSO are heritage listed, which would make things difficult for any upgrade. I bet those bench seats have been replaced many times over the years so they don't matter

Trust me, you don’t want a roof. The roof at Marvel is extremely unpopular. A metal roof create shadows which broadcasters hate - hence why the Marvel roof is closed even on a dry 20 degree day. Watching sport in the middle of the day indoors with lights on creates a very strange atmosphere. Most don’t like it. A

I agree with you about Marvel Staduim, was there yesterday and walking in from a sunny warm afternoon into a dark cavern was so disorienting. One of the staff members i talked to mentioned about the roof and how the TV broadcaster want the roof closed so there isnt all the shadows. Was a very strange experience overall.

Sigh. Yeah, let's waste money on a ground which will be luckly to get 1-2 NRL games a year -

I’m sure the ns rate payers won’t mind another hike to improve one game a season at nso.

no nrl game should be played in a venue under 20k unless in a small regional town.

Greg Florimo said there are no plans to play at North Sydney Oval in the near future. Said there will be plenty of games in Sydney for bears fans to go to watch them play.

.
Haven’t seen that quote

It’s been repeated multiple times nso will get at least one game and maybe two (one being a trial)

Probably have more Bears games in Sydney than Dragons games in Wollongong. If you look at another non heartland team- Storm have seven away games in Sydney this year.

Dragons, Manly, Cronulla, Souths, Roosters, Eels, and Penrith is the Storm's draw in Sydney. And Bears have a home game most likely at Allianz, and not NSO. So potentially eight games in Sydney.

Three Matilda's games lovked in for HBF Stadium in June and July. If there's an agreement to update the Stadium then this would be the best opportunity.
I couldn't see 'The West' going after the matildas.

The Gold Coast Titans have secured a location for a new home, with City of Gold Coast today confirming that the NRL club has been successful in their tender for a site on Lakeside Drive at Carrara.

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said securing the Emerald Lakes Parklands site is vitally important for the long-term future of the club and will provide a centre of significance for all in the Gold Coast community.

One of our strategic pillars and priority areas for us as a club that we articulated in our 2030 roadmap was the development of a world-class high-performance facility,” he said.

“The Titans represent the largest and fastest growing sports in our region and as a result, we’ve outgrown our current home at Parkwood.

“The Emerald Lakes Parklands site will become the new home of our NRL, NRLW and netball programs and also will house our industry leading community programs that make a difference to the lives of our local residents.

“City of Gold Coast have a vision to make our region the epicentre of sports in the South Pacific and we think this facility will be a game-changer in positioning our region as a high-performance destination particularly in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games. “We are unique as a club in that we have both field and court sports as well as male, female, junior and inclusion programs and our future home will reflect the diversity of the programs and community we represent.

“I want to thank City of Gold Coast and Invest Gold Coast, this announcement today will ensure we represent this population for decades to come, ensuring there is a community hub that allows the club to develop and deliver programs from grassroots to the elite level.”

Wont be any announcements for at least 12 months on HBF Park. It will happen but after a breathing space so it doesnt look like Cook lied about it not being part of the agreement. He's also just announced the $220mill Burswood racetrack brainfart idea which he will cop a load of flak for over next few months so wont want to add to the pile on with $200-300mill for HBF park.

Any idea if it’s just the main stand that will get redone or more on top of that
