If we can get this backline playing every week we will make the finals.
Looks good on paper but I haven't followed Makasini's progress in lower grades. We definitely need this position improved. AD will most likely be there until something develops. He is also got goal kicking role. Last week he got 100%. :)
It would be good to get some consistency.
Bula - progressing but a lot to learn.
Skelton - been injured.
May - I can't see a downside except for mental health.
If not May then To'a. It will be interesting to see how Benji utilises these two. To'a had been killing it before injury. They hopefully will be our centre pairing until Makasini (yet to debut) gets a run.
Turuva - first time I've seen him overwhelmed last week amongst a side under a barrage of attacking pressure.
Luai - good running game & 5th tackle kicks but needs players to drop under at times, enter Skelton and May.
Fainu - best of the lot as far as left and right passing goes as he plays either side and through the middle corridor.
Luke Laulilii is a star of the future. I'm happy that he wasn't part of that debacle last week. He can keep gaining experience with little cameos now and then.
Charlie has energy and a good sub.
One winger that may come into contention next year is Alex Lobb. Big, tall, and tackles well. Is a handy goal kicker as well. After a full year in KOE and another preseason under his belt we may see him in the NRL....in which team is the question.
I didn't realise May was a centre, I thought he was a winger, though I've never seen the bloke play.

He is a winger but has that Staggs look about him. Very illusive and quick. I was taking into account that if he was available right now I'd have him in the centres with To'a and keep Skelton and Turuva on the wings.
Having said that Skelton is hampered by a hamstring injury.

If he doesn't GK, then I think you need AD in the team, unless we have someone else.
TBH, I don't think he's doing too much wrong.
I realise Api and TDS can kick, but they have enough on their plates.

Api enjoys it though, I agree that goal kicking is crucial but in this case, our backs need speed, the non white powdered type :)
I just think AD lacks the explosive power to generate that raw speed. AD is playing better that ever but still lacks this raw attribute. .
Game breaker centres. They call them centres for a reason and the most underrated position.
Game breakers centres.
Ramien, Farnworth, Staggs, Xerri, Tioa, Best.
The closest we have is To'a and since he's been injured we've lost out.

Others must be seeing something in this guy that I can't see. Hope I'm wrong.
Agree, I thought he was underwhelming when we played them last, but there is a bit of chatter that they haven't been using him for what he is best at; attacking and off loading, more as a tackling bag only.

It would be funny if they could do a swap for him and Galvin at the knights hahaha

Agree. I think if he goes to any club with a transfer fee then ok.
If the NRL had to pay for transfer fees they would pull their finger out and stop the contract disloyalty.
I can't see anyway around other than deregistering agents and make it compulsory that a transfer fee be applied to any contract that is cut short. Maybe there is?

I'm starting to think KPP is a good signing for us.I think he'd be better than Seyfarth on an edge and hopefully give us a quality right edge. If we could get May on the left edge replacing Doueihi that would be a step up as well.

If we could then add another impact prop we'd have made significant improvements in the team.

The only issue to me is the balance of Twal and Seyfarth in the team. They are both workers and good at it but May is a worker as well. Hunt to me hasn't done enough and we need a lot more from an impact forward.

I’d rather Reynolds than May if there was a choice

Reynolds is one of my favorite players but he is at the backend of his career. It just makes that signing a little risky. May will be a shit load cheaper as well.

I can't see why we couldn't get both.

Spot on. Back at the Old Dart he had a reputation of being a attacking forward with a good pass and offload. What I saw last night he was playing on an edge and couldn't link up with anyone.
The problem with Newcastle is they haven't settled on their halves combo. Last night Tyson Gamble was recalled and he was ineffective again.
I'm hoping Luai can play ⅝ and link up with Samuela Fianu on the left then switch to Pearce-Paul on the right. Play more of a roaming ⅝ which he is good at. I'd rather keep Latu in his preferred ½back spot.

I think this is on the back of recent media but it's gaining momentum.

We sign another ½ and that could destabilise the Fainu boys.
Do we really need to give retirement package to another player who is struggling with constant injuries?
I think we just need to give Latu and Jarome better cattle to work with as the halves have enough talent.
Another strike centre, edge or even a middle. We are thin when we lose key players in those positions.
