Bill Harrigan on Face to Face

Looking forward to this on Fox this Tuesday. No doubt will cover the following :

The infamous cement truck comment from Bozo. Happened in 1987 and was triggered by Manly half Des Hasler feeding the 2nd row after being warned by Bill that he’d be in the bin if he did it again. Bozo was fined 10k reduced to 6k on appeal. Probably the equivalent of 60k these days.

The 1989 grand final penalty against Bruce McGuire using offside Raider Steve Walter’s as a decoy to stop getting tackled. It’s easy to say in retrospect that if McGuire had simply run into Walter’s and collapsed then Balmain would have got the penalty. Instead he played peek a boo . Begs the question though what came first? The chicken or the egg?

Gus getting sent off from the sideline coaching the Panthers in 1994.

The sin bin frenzy in 2002 when Parra endured 4 sin bins against the Knights and at one stage played with 10 men.

Greg Hartley had the original “Hollywood” moniker but Harrigan earned it too.

He did a Monday night game around 2009-2010 as the video ref. He made an absolute howler there (I believe it was his final game). I believe the game was Manly vs St George but could be wrong. Ball was dropped about 18 inches off the ground and he gave the try. Complained the next day his monitor was blurry. Would love to hear him explain that one too.

I'd like to know how he was the only person in the world that saw 2 or 3 saints knock ons in the second half of the 99 gf. Also how he was the only person in the world that didn't see all the blatant head shots by the storm in the 2nd half of the 99 gf. He must have special eyesight.

Interesting interview here. Towards the end Harrigan mentions a potential fight with Gould in a Perth apartment ?round 20 1989 Bulldogs v Raiders in Perth. Sterlo wanted the details but Gould quickly changed the subject .

So funny that a referee has such a god complex. I know he’s a cop and there’s a heap of them who are arrogant f**kwits.
But you’re an official, nobody in the game cares about you or really respects you and you think you’re an ornament to the game due to your own delusions of grandeur.

The guy has literally admitted to managing games to make contests more even, openly said we're in the entertainment business and one sided contests arent entertaining for anyone. Absolute POS
