He turned down at least a few offers from Gus until the money was just too good.Burton had a position available when at Penrith but wanted to play in the halves.

I would he is a leading center but given he was sacked still seems to be struggling will not happenWhat the club wants / will do is one thing.
The point in question is would you be happy if he was re-signed. I personally would.
I also think that there is no way in hell the club would even entertain the thought of re-signing him.
Katoa is the one that hurt. The kid will be neck and neck with Nathan as best half in the game over the coming years. It's just a shame Katoa and Burton come through when they did and not now where a position would have been available.
Gus is a pri.k, Our club should have just kept on paying him for 15 years. Now let's raid their Juniors. He turned down at least a few offers from Gus until the money was just too good.
There's a reason he spend so long looking for a doctor that would clear him to come back. If you have to meet 12 doctors before finding one who will clear you or whatever the number is it's probably not a good idea.Corey Harawaera-Naera cleared to come back to the sport. Would be hungry and cost next to nothing surely.

That is called negotiating, lets not act like he desperately wanted to stay until the offer was to good. He was always leaving, he was negotiating his next contract as best he could. Its not a knock on him, its just what it is.
Nope it shows he was ok to stay here at centre for a few yearsThat is called negotiating, lets not act like he desperately wanted to stay until the offer was to good. He was always leaving, he was negotiating his next contract as best he could. Its not a knock on him, its just what it is.

The point is the club made a mistake. Either Critter or Burton should still be hereBurton got more money and he was going to play in the halves with the Dogs, end of story. If he was willing to stay he would’ve.

I fear for his long term health if that's the case.
The club got greedy and tried low ball everyone and then we lost them allThe club did all they could to keep Burton. Even concocted a plan for him to play lock. You said yourself so many times. He is a six. The fact is the Dogs offered him more money and a chance to play in the halves. We couldn't at the time. His departure is not a mistake, just bad timing.
Crichton I would have loved to have kept. He is peaking now.
Reading between the lines his management made it difficult from the get go. They reneged on a handshake deal on his prior contract. - They played games the next time around. They sought FB money. A position he has yet to play over there.
Maybe the club would have played it differently on him if they had their time again. I don't know. Either way it wasn't smooth.
Wasn't the whole deal with Critta that he agreed to a deal with us before backing out unexpectedly? Ie, we thought we had him, and suddenly he's announced as a Dogs signing? Not much we could have done if true.Critta. He left for probably not a lot more money and the same position. Easier to keep than a guy who going to the halves
Tagos contract was upgraded in 2024, a year after Crichton signed with the Dogs. Tago was the fallback option. The problem with Critta is that the club prioritised a big money deal to keep Tago ahead of him. I only assume the club thought he would just re sign, but he left and went to the Dogs.
What we do know is though, Critta, Burton and Kikau have now all left for the dark side with Ciraldo. Move on, we have some great young players coming through plus we have just won the last 4 GF’s. How many did they win?
