atko watch is back again!

this week, two trys on the wing next to the soft hands sifa. generally tried hard in his role shoved there on the wing given 2 outside back injuries.
was literally jumped over for one melbourne try. bit unfair tbh

To me he's looking increasingly like Nicho Hynes did for Melbourne in 2021. Played 5 different positions throughout the year and although he wasn't their starting half he was just too good not to carry on the bench. I also expect Atko to win a Dally M a year later.

Forumites, it is a Danny Wiesel article. No one likes him and even less people take him seriously. He is a laughing stock in Rugby League circles. Absolutely fxcking Dribbler. Only currently useful to Gus as his mouth piece.
Danny Wiesel indeed.
He has history of Dragon and Flanagan hating.
Any chance he gets to deride the Dragons, SF or KF he will jump on it.
eg his “reporting“ of KF and the biting charge in 2024.
And earlier articles about SF.
He is a Wiesel/weasel.

Haha fair enough. And fair enough to not be happy with where we are at and what we’ve given for years. Also, to be doubtful that Flanno is the man to get us out of this hole.

Just a genuine question for you and I’m Hornby too.

Is there anything that is an honest positive that you think Flanno has done since coming here or is it all just a pile of shit in your perspective?

In my opinion there is way more negatives then positives. I would say the signing of Holmes and Gutho was a positive.. Debut of our youngsters like Egan, Stewart, Couchmans etc they were always going to be blooded this year regardless of our coach but that's another positive.. My biggest problem with Flanno is he lost Lomax who fair enough didn't want to be here but there was obviously a communication break down. Look at him now he is probably one of our most talented juniors ever and he is now at Parra, shouldn't happen. And the resigning of Kyle until the end of 27, that is just insanity in my opinion. Add in the missed chances of off season signings etc I could go on and on. I think the team should be playing better and higher on the ladder then we are right now. Kyle is only in the team because of Flanno and that's probably my biggest problem this year add in we might lose Liddle because of it I can't see many positives at all but it's all my opinion. I still want us to make the 8 but ANZAC day said it all to me, if we couldn't get up for that 2 years in a row Flanno is doing something wrong in the lead up.

Bottom line if we do loose Liddle and Kyle was to take his place then the whole joint is toxic and completely F**KED ........

I honestly think that it's been Flannos plan ever since he signed Cook and put Liddle to 14. You don't sign someone (Kyle) for 3 years if your going to play him in reserve grade, and if I was Liddle I would be saying see ya later. I won't begrudge him if he chooses to leave, Flanno and the club should already have the contract signed and sealed and if we stuff this up it won't suprise me but it will definitely piss me off.

As everyone would know as it’s being reported in all forms of media Lochie Galvin has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs. He would be as significant as Fonu-Blake signature which sadly we missed out on. Genuine quality half backs are rare as hens teeth. He is very young and very talented which makes him even rarer. Flanno could build the team‘s future around him. Does anyone know at present a ball park figure we have left in our salary cap?

There are some positives like the introduction of new players to first grade.

For me though on balance the team has gotten worse over the time that Flanagan has been coach. So has the quality of the playing roster.

In relation to recruitment/retention, I can't honestly say any of it makes sense or shows there is a clear cut strategy. From the day Flanagan became coach we seem to chase most players, lose out and then repeat cycle.
We're in desperate need of front rowers and haven't signed any of quality. The players we have lost such as Molo, Hunt, Lomax have in the large been replaced by players worse in quality.

On field performances are hot and cold and we can't seem to eradicate dumb things that typify dragons footy.

None of this excites me or tells me Flanagan is worth persisting with. I had my doubts from the beginning of course and so far from what I've seen the last two years are no different to anything from the past 13-14 years.
