Good on the Dogs/Gus for signing Galvin.

They're now a well oiled machine and are able to sign big name players who a) want to play for them and b) are being sought after by other teams.

They have sorted out their front office and would have a legitimate way of fitting their players in to the salary cap.

Rather than us pointing fingers out of jealousy, we should support reinvigorating out front office so that we can start recruiting proper talent and building our team.

All it takes is for a new coach to demand the changes just as Ryles did, which our BOD agreed to make, and we could start heading in the right direction.
However we all know the direction we went in to with the fraud who is out of his depth and was so desperate he didn't care about demanding any meaningful or structural changes to improve our club's adminstration.

One of the major issues we are facing is that we are now a regional team. Just like Newcastle. Therefore, we have to rely on juniors as most big name players prob don't want to live in Wollongong. That's what farked us when we merged. As a player, you could live in Sydney and drive an hour to go to training. But who the hell wants to do that? And yes...I will continue to point my finger at Canterbury with hate and jealousy....Had we chosen not to merge, we could have been a top Sydney team, instead of the bridesmaids we've become.

Craig Young, Dean Young, Peter Doust, Ian Millward and Ben Haran MUST be removed immediately if we are to start moving towards success.

I think this is a furphy.....the Gong is a much more preferable place to reside than many other NRL locations.....Canberra for instance....their recruitment seems to go ok. It seems to be more about how we go about our recruitment and maybe the reputation of the club in the in he NRL environment.

Canberra has the same issue as us. They can’t sign top notch players. If you’re a young bloke, you’d be enticed by the bright lights in Sydney.

What's the point in ranting about our location, where does that get us? All it does is cause angst between the Illawarra and Sydney based fans.

We won the comp in 2010 despite our location and without superstars due to good coaching and man management and we can do it again.

I agree with the good word. We are where we are. We've won as many comps as the Dogs since merging, and even the Illawarra Hawks can win them.

Such existential whining is futile. Where does it stop? We should've gone to Adelaide with Penfolds in the mid 90s. They should never have let Cronulla join the comp in 67, or let Canterbury join in 35, the NSWRL should've ground the ARU into the dust when they had the chance in the 1910s... the British aristocracy should've focused on ending poverty in their own country before sending a fleet of poor convicts to colonise Australia and massacre the First Nations people... and maybe the entire world would be better off if that curious amphibian just stayed in the water instead of crawling out 370 million years ago. Especially since that hideous looking amphibian is apparently now the Bulldogs GM and a prominent commentator on channel 9

Exactly. 2 things we don't have at the moment is a good man manager and a good coach. Flanno is neither as seen in our results over the last 2 years good post.
