I dont think the lying part is the actual issue.

I think its more the conflict of interest that Gus has across the game.

And while the game is riddled with it. Gus isn't the only one.

He probably is the most powerful though when it comes to it.

Its more that his credibility as a RL media analyst is down the toilet and what can you take seriously because everything he says has a hidden agenda behind it.
His commentary was very phony in the women's state of origin. He sounded like an old guy who thinks it is funny women play football.
Was he in charge when the Panthers refused to show any interest in playing in the WNRL?

Well you know he has already sacked the NRLW coach of the Bulldogs before they even played a game.

I know the story behind it but its not for public forum.

Gus covered it up beautifully.

Anybody is going to react on an individual level when that rubbish is thrown at them. I'm talking about the general public and yours and most of the posters in this threads opinions.
Hey I understand that you speak of Gus highly and why wouldn’t you he done a great job at the club, but this Rubbish thrown at him is his own doing, why not just say the truth that he was interested in Galvin, what the big secret it’s not like his working for the CIA.

Why aren't we focusing on Parra's involvement in all of this. They were the ones that started this whole process. Just cause Gus was smart enough to swoop in and ruin Parramatta's plans is not on Gus. Why aren't we focusing on the bullying allegations that a non-disparagement clause that he had to sign before he was released? Journos should be digging into that more, probably help the Tigers long term fix what stinks there. But then what team would they write about? There are many facets to this story. Trying to "catch" Gus in a lie which may or may not have happened is just one way to look at the situation.

Any club would love to have him

He’s the best in the business

Even if he lied through his teeth about Galvin

There’s been literally zero comment about what a dud mark oneill was

Gus totally outplayed him

We should also be focusing on Galvin’s manager…

Penrith fans and their mental gymnastics to discount the impact Gus had on their club because it ended on a sour note.

It was all Ivan. A bloke who was a complete lemon up until 2020, who pulled some God like coaching abilities out of his nether regions
Early Gus nailed it putting the right people in key positions, his greatest signing was Matt Cameron. He signed a heap of plodders, but that was also a great move in building culture. Sorting the pathways was also down to him, and that has paid off large as well.

Plenty of mistakes balance it, Corey CEO Payne was the first clanger, followed by punting Ivan for Hook. Some retread deals for players on way overs and then wearing it for them to play elsewhere.

He did always say the plan was to make himself redundant and for the success to follow his departure, and he got that call bang on.

He is taking a different approach with the Dogs, and getting similar results so far, only a bit faster. His problem is he is like a kid with ADHD, he cant sit still, so when the job is just about done he still has to fiddle and f**k around with things.

As much as he needed to go when he did, we are not where we are now if he had never come. Or more accurately, we are not where we were October 2024, we are probably exactly where we are right now.

The results the Dogs are getting earlier is because the Penrith players are now developed. See Kikau, Burton, Crichton to name a few. Without those 3 blokes, they are a rabble.

As far as I'm concerned, he's a f*cking blight on the game; the Donald Trump of Rugby League.

He's trying to create the game in his own image, using his media position to drive agendas for the way he wants the game to be. When the game is trying to seriously address head knocks it's 'ruining the fabric of the game'; a few years ago when the league (rightly) cracked down on play the ball and ruck infringements (including offside) he and Johns howled it down and - when there was one bad reffing performance where it went too far - used it as ammo to have the crackdown thrown out so we've been stuck with the same crap around ptb, markers and offside ever since.
And lets not forget how he uses his media influence to manipulate the player market. Talking up players he likes (or wants) and subtly dismissing others can change careers. Some of the stuff he does is borderline at best, and I don't think any of us would be too surprised if it came out that there were breaches of the anti-tampering rules.

Blatantly lies and then expects us to forget when he changes the subject.

And on top of it all, he's the most painful merkin to listen to in commentary. Knowledgeable? Absolutely. But hearing him waffle on makes my ears bleed.

And for Gus to be bleating that it was a try in the women's SOO when the ball did not touch the ground is ridiculous. Therefore if a Bulldogs defender gets their hand under the ball he will not have any issues if the referee stills award the try to the opposition.

That was one of his dumber complaints in a long time.

*player fails to ground the ball*

Gus: I hate that rule

Probably a rule that has existed since the beginning of the sport.

Just mind boggling he actually expressed that opinion.

Does he know the nrl is televised with 4k clarity? It's not park football where nobody knows the difference.
