Yes, this is exactly what should happen. Brisbane is in dire need of a mid sized rectangular stadium so Suncorp can drop Reds, Roar and smaller drawing NRL games and just focus on being a big stadium for Broncos (allow them to push their averages closer to 50k), all the big SEQLD derbies between Brons, Phins, Jets and Tits except Tits home games of course) and the international soccer and Union teams.
Are the Jets certain to be the next Brisbane team if there is one? Do they have a big fan base like the Dolphins did/do?
Logan would seem like a better place to have a Southern Brisbane team. South Brisbane Magpies could be interesting.

Ballymore is falling down. Since Olympic funding got pulled (cause they were going to play hockey there, but hockey australia got pissed at that), it's now back to begging for the stadium just to get patched up. Reds aren't ever goign to play proper games there again. Residents would have a fit given it's location.

Already done stage one at 28 million

Sure currently it’s too small but they are asking for more

Their crowd average sits around 15k ish so 20k would be perfect for them and they own it so they would avoid paying any rent cause Suncorp is expensive

Why would the Qlnd Govt want to
A) Spend $600mill
B) Double its stadium running costs for no extra income
C) Not be able to recoup some money from selling the Gabba land

What's in it for them?

Those at Logan would be well served if a Jets team came in. They could drive 45mins and be at either GC, Brisbane or Jets games. Logan doesn't need a team. Jets would be able to carve out it's own area pretty well, but I would see it becoming the West Tigers of QLD. Plenty of talent, but other teams just pick them to death.

The Jets brand is synonymous with Ipswich and there is a big population and juniors out that way that see themselves as something different to Brisbane, much like Cowboys fans loved the Broncos by default before getting their own team.

Logan and Ipswich border each other and from all I've seen, the team is for the Logan/Ipswich and Toowoomba regions. They'll probably play out of a 20k Ipswich stadium with big SEQ derbies at Suncorp.

Suncorp has its limits in terms of number of events per year and I'd suggest that Broncos, Phins, Jets, Origin, Magic Round, Pacific Championships, Reds, Roar, concerts, Wallabies, Matildas, Soceroos would really be asking too much. It's not that they would want to do it, more than it would have be out of necessity at that point with more than enough content to justify an additional public asset

Jets dont have the money or assets. Unless they build a stadium at Ipswich I cant see them getting in over Easts.
Ikin seems to be taking a keen interest in the project. I think something is brewing, maybe a partnership between Jets (juniors, location and population), Easts money and assets and QRL brokering a deal between the two and maybe getting involved to help make it a success and advocate for the bid to Abdo and Vlandys.

I'm just guessing but he seems confident another QLD team is coming and he keeps mentioning Western Corridor as a crucial area because....

Current usage around 60 days a year. Still leaves 305!

Doesn't work like that mate, these venues have event limits
Suncorp can host 24 sports events with att over 45k and 12 concerts a year. Below that it can host as much as it likes. No problem with capacity even if a third NRL club enters at some point.

Now you could argue that for Brisbane clubs that can only draw sub 25k a smaller stadium would be better, but that isnt goign to sway a Govt to spend $600mill on something that is a would prefer, rather need, Id suggest.

Let me just get your position clear. Do you think that Brisbane doesn't need a mid-sized rectangular venue? That would be quite a take if so, especially if another SEQ team gets into the NRL

Do I think it needs one? Its preferrable for the smaller clubs but not needed for the city.
Do I think the Qlnd govt is going to spend $600mill building one anytime soon, and have running costs of two stadiums to cover with less revenue generated? Not a cat in hells chance.

And surely if Brisbane 3 is Ipswich they will need a stadium in Ipswich, not one 35km away?

that is what University of Hawaii have done at the ends of their stadium (long-term temporary seating in on the field) This is what the NRL and Stadium Australia should do except make the seating elevated, so it is actually close and a good view of the game. Make a weakness into a strength. (Obviously take it down for SOO and GF).
