2025 Crowd Watch

Friday night following Origin is never going to pull a big crowd anywhere. Accept it and move on.
Why do we need to accept it?

If you're happy with the status quo then that's fine, but respectfully you don't have the right to tell other fans how they should feel. I want every club to be doing everything possible to maximise their crowds. At the moment it feels like some clubs are doing a great job at getting their fans to games and others are just half-assing it.

Respectfully that’s what we do here all day. Friday night crowds following origin are never strong. That’s a fan choice. Go argue with them if you think I am wrong. This SOO period always struggles for ratings and crowds. SOO sucks up a lot of the energy of the comp mid season. That’s a reality. Saints v Knights was always going to struggle.

100%

at the end of the day we are all RL fans and all want what’s best for the game and currently there’s a couple of clubs that are letting down the game.

Normally I would agree with you but when you look at the Dragons previous crowds over the last two years at Kogarah, there's clearly a theme.

2024:

Dragons vs Cowboys - 9,252
Dragons vs Rabbitohs - 7,517
Dragons vs Dolphins - 8,052
Dragons vs Raiders - 11, 189
Dragons vs Bulldogs - 18,416 (Finally a sellout)

2025:

Dragons vs Bulldogs - 16,211 (This was meant to be a sellout)
Dragons vs Storm - 6,211
Dragons vs Knights - 10, 411

Outside of the two Bulldogs games, the Dragons have been attracting terrible crowds to their games at Kogarah. I really hope they can start turning it around because they are meant to be one of our bigger clubs, but they clearly don't care about attracting high attendances.

The Knights (Wests League) are one of those clubs' half arsing it. They are just lucky they have the best fans in RL.

And you have no right to tell Dragons fans where they should play their home games. They simply aren't interested in travelling to the SFS unless it's Anzac day.

As soon as the team becomes consistently successful on the field you will see both Kogarah and Wollongong filled to capacity again.

I'm not telling the Dragons to do anything. Maybe learn to read?

I said "It makes no sense to me why they still play there apart from tradition."

It's up to the Dragons where they want to play, I just want to see them maximise their potential. The same as every other club. I'm a Rugby League fan first.

I just had a quick look at the availability of State of Origin tickets in Sydney.
- I'd estimate that there's <500 tickets available on levels 1-4 (excluding accessible seats).
- On level 6, the only real availability is in Bays 601-602, 612-613, 622-623, and 630-631.
- Overall, I'd estimate there's less than 2,000 tickets available.

Assuming all tickets have been released for sale, I'm a bit surprised. If the game becomes a dead rubber, here's how it would compare with dead rubbers at Accor Stadium in the past 25 years:
2023: 75,342 after QLD had already won the Series
2016: 61,267 after QLD had already won the Series (granted Sydney had already hosted Game 1)
2010: 61,259 after QLD had already won the Series (granted Sydney had already hosted Game 1)
2000: 58,767 after NSW had already won the series (granted Sydney had already hosted Game 1)

The fans are telling us that themselves. The dragons currently sit in the top 8 after that last weekend win. I won’t deny that the dragons have had a pretty rough 10 years or so but they’re not the only ones and not all are pulling crowds like that.
