Mal will need good assistants to be sucessfull, I know that could be said for any coach but Mal to me is a figurehead with limited coaching ability who will rely on his assistants as he always has.

With it looking like Mal getting the job (or at least the title) Id go for a coaching team of:

Head Coach (in name) Meninga
Head assistant coach (in effect the real coach) Arthur
Assistant coaches: 2 of Holbrook/Hannay/King

Then we need a WA jnr development pathways head. Whose got good runs on board leading SG ball-Flegg programs?

My business partner (and former 80’s Raiders team mate of Mal) and I caught up with Mal during Magic Round. Prior to “official” Perth Bears announcement.

I suggested that if he was legitimately hungry to coach club footy again to start considering his appetite to relocate to Perth and to have a chat to his wife about the potential opportunity that might be presented.

I had an almost identical conversation with Kevie that same day.

This is all ARLC and Mal’s work. I just merely happened to chat to him before the idea was even conceptualised and conceived in his mind. That’s all.
