“I had interest last year from Japan with the Panasonic Wild Knights, they tried to get me over and asked me to tour their facility, while I also met with the Waratahs,” Makasini said on Friday. “But the Tigers are home. I’m a local junior, I can see something brewing at the club, and I want to be a part of it.”

Special, good news.

When has this kid played against men?
Also, he is an average goal kicker.
If we see him play first grade this year, we will be in a very very poor position.
He is way too inexperienced.
Let him develop FFS.

Why ? He might be a gun. He is an 108 kg centre who looks to have footwork, a fend and speed.

Some players just have it.

Personally I think it's obvious that Doueihi is a weak link in the team and we have to replace him as quickly as possible if we want to win more games.

I’d be surprised if a kid who has only played sg ball this yr is leapfrogged into NRL when he’s clearly not ready unless we are mathematically out of running of finals which is inevitable & he excels in nsw cup then it’s worth giving him a taste of the big league.

I think he needs to get a run in the NRL to at least see how he does handle it, this year.
Galvin, TDS and a few others were not that much older.
The league's history is littered with young blokes playing at this age.
If you're good enough, you're old enough.

I have no idea if he is ready or not. Do you watch him regularly ? Does anyone on here ? He looks like a big NRL centre now. To'a is listed at 96 kg and Stephen Crichton at 100kg.

If he excels in the lower grades though I would love to see him get a run or two in state cup and go from there but that is a long way off.

The club are talking him up. I think that is stupid but I hope they are right.

Personally I think May is a lot better chance of taking Doueihi's spot this year but who knows.

No doubt the kid is a precocious talent but why I’m not holding my breath re playing NRL this yr is he hasn’t played Flegg or nsw cup yet & I don’t believe he has played since sg ball was completed.Re the club talking him up I certainly don’t like it & it seems to me they are deflecting from the reality of where we are on the ladder & the inevitability we will continue our perpetual absence from sept footy.

I can certainly see & expect May to be fast tracked into the starting team & preferably for the disappointing slug AD.

I think we view Makasini in the same way. To me it's a good story but first grade is a different thing. I'll see what happens.

I hope Benji drops AD this week. He is good utility cover but we need someone with some pace out wide.

Personally, I'd give him a game or 2 in NRL at the end of the year to see how he goes and to give him a taste and some encouragement. He could be the next Fittler, Daley, or Brasher, and star immediately. You don't know unless you have a go.

And on that note (and bearing in mind he'll be on network TV on Thursday) we need to sign him to a 10 year $12 million contract immediately. That way, when a more fancied club steals him off us, we'll get more than $165k in compo.
