I don't doubt DY's love or commitment to the Dragons, and I think as a player he achieved above and beyond his actual ability, but his coaching abilities and structures just don't work. Unfortunate but true. The Dragons need to move on (but will they?).
I have seen all season our passive defence strategy...standing still and waiting for the attack to come to you...and it clearly doesn't work. For f**k sake move up at least 5 metres in a line at speed and meet the attached at the advantage line...you only have to do it for probably 35 mins in total per match...surely some embecile in the club can work that out..I'm not the sharpest tool in the toolbox but I can figure that out...

Which one of Luch, Guler, Klemmer, JDB, Cook, Liddle have the line speed & lateral movement to cover oppo stepping through? They don't rush up because one side step & they're fkd. These guys don't have mobility, even JDB has gone down a few pegs this year. You need to have players who can generate good line speed consistently & lateral movement. Loko is a big unit but line speed isn't his forte. Lawrie well no, especially with lateral movement.

Our best ones are Stewart & Couchman, even Couchman got exposed on the edge for lateral movement. Egan was massive in this area as he had good line speed & lateral movement. We just don't have the players, sure they can improve but fans need to be realistic too.

Add Suli & Holmes in the centres, Suli gets done for lateral movement while Holmes has been good defensively this year but then Sloan & whoever is on the other wing both not really defensive wingers either. We don't have the players across the park for defence.

Suli rarely passes the ball to his winger and as you say, often causes a line brake and or try against us when he misses a tackle through his lack of lateral movement.

There is a very good article about our lack of line speed in defense that shows the figures to prove it. Yes your tackle efficiency may be good when you wait for the opposition to come to you but giving away 50 metres per set and only making 35 to 40 yourself is always chasing your tail.

Usually not a fan of zero tackle but those stats confirm what we fans all see (and get angry about) when the Dragons play. Also confirms that KF is nowhere near the biggest problem that this team has. Kyle might have some issues but any half is going to be on a hiding to nothing playing behind this.
We lose our games because we spend most of the game camped in our own half and employ a cowardly and passive defensive line that just lets the opposition do whatever it wants.
Head coach should be on the lookout for whoever the NRL’s best defensive assistant coach is and paying them a motza.

Mate if the head coach is so good at coaching, surely he could intervene and sort out the defensive woes himself?

It's not as if these damning stats are beyond Flanagan's control, ultimately he is the head coach and his responsibility is to have his assistants implement his tactics.

Getting very tiring of people wanting to blame everyone else but the coach.

Agree here , but there may be more to it , I remember when Ryles knocked us back because he wanted full control , just my take on it , with the ex players and same Boys club still there Flanno's employment might of had a couple of clauses in it as to , who his coaching staff would be ........

My take away was that Ryles knocked us back because the Storm called up and said that Bellamy will finish up soon….
Meanwhile of course that never happened and Bellamy is going to go around again next year
