Laurie has to be gone and even if that is the case, where does Edgar play for most of next year?

If they are picking up Sloan for a year my guess is they are all in on Attard, Laurie and Edgar may be on the way out. Im ok with that tbh, Attard can still develop next year in flegg and cup. But we have to moving someone on if we are interested in Sloan.

As far as sloan as a player, he has speed. We turned Milky into a prime Israel Foloau so we might be able to get something out of sloan, he just plays soft when i see him tho.

i think Sloan could be handy as a backup - but his defence seems to be the consistent complaint everyone has against him - can Ivan get him solid defensively?

Man its one thing to improve your defence as a 5/8 defending between Scott Sorenson and Casey McLean vs the tyre fire that has been edge defence at Parra the last 2 years, its a totally different ballgame teaching a fullback to organise defence at the highest level as your primary role. That will take serious years and time you only put into very promising kids. As a winger he's small, weak and completely unsuited to the role, let alone within a Pantherball system.

If we feel we need a NRL capable back up for one year while Attard/Edgar are developing, Laurie is the best option available. If we want a winger, grab Staines or Wilson who can both play Pantherball wing effectively and have a good attitude.

Well that's true. I used to think flanno was a good coach, but the amount of talent the Dragons are losing over pensioners is hilarious.

Sloan is on 500k at dragons and if they were to chip in half his contract I think it would very much worth it

The thing with these types of signings are they arent players currently that we would use or need or get excited about, if they were they wouldnt be available with their own willing to chip in to get rid of them, its like no one got excited about Milky when St marys signed, but every now and then one of these bums turns out to be a milky or a Sorro.

Now does Sloan look good now? No of course not. But our young FBs in Attard and Edgar, when he was their age he was just as highly rated yeah, so there is talent there. Can we get something out of him, i dont know but i dont mind if they try for a year.
