Yep, we've got to get V'Landys & Abdo over to Christchurch to see that stadium in action.

The experience it'll provide will set a new bar for venues in Australasia.
Hopefully Christchurch could get a couple of NRL trial&regular season games as well.

Will the Canterbury NPC team play in the new stadium as well?
Possibly most but not all?

I was reading an article the other day that said that NZ Rugby was keen to take some NPC (National Provincial Championship) games to smaller venues, as the crowds get lost in bigger stadiums, plus those venues cost more to hire.

Already Wellington is taking games to Porirua Park this year, and I'm thinking Auckland might follow suit. Christchurch might be different given they've just spent a lot on the new stadium, but if a satellite town/suburb like (say) Rolleston puts up a good case for a game or two, why not?

are there any plans to keep or demolish the old rugby league park stadium?

the Canterbury NPC team could possibly use this.

im almost sure they will eventually take the majority of NPC games to the more smaller provincial stadiums as they already struggle to fill the big stadiums for super rugby as it is.

the talk I heard was that they are considering moving more super rugby games to these smaller provincial stadiums.

would be better for the competition and grassroots game for the NZRU to do so and engage more with the local communities.

Is Boyd going to finally get a crack at first grade

Harris Tevita running the show and they miss the eight

It would be a shame after they’ve been in the top four most of the season to end in a whimper but Metcalf is around 70 percent of the good things they do in attack

Rts at fullback could be a huge positive though

Also seen at the Glastonbury festival

In past years I'd be a lot more worried, but the club culture seems good & resilient this year, depth (especially in the spine) looks alright - especially given we have a form team in NSW Cup, and the remaining draw doesn't look too daunting.

Not the time for panic at all.

TMM will slot straight in and without another dominant half around, he goes to another level. He's been in the 14, not for his versatility but because he's too good to be left out of the 17.

There is room but the stadium is crap

Bigger population than Christchurch
I wouldn't say crap, just that Sky Stadium is decidedly average.

It's very much a stadium of it's time - and at that time, NZ was still focused on multi-purpose cricket AND footy grounds.

If it'd been built just decade later, it could well have been a rectangular footy stadium.

Mind you, as other cities get newer builds (eg Christchurch & Dunedin's enclosed footy stadiums) or refurbishment (Whatever the heck theyre doing in Auckland, when they get round to it) Sky Stadium will look more and more antiquated by comparison.

Talk of Tannah 7 and TMM 6, that combo got the nsw cup team humming.
This would push CHT to 14 which I think he’s a better option than TMM as he’s a much better hooker option.
As much as I want RTS at fullback I think Webster will go with Taine, Wing we literally have no options and although he did ok there once teams attacked his height disadvantage it was all over. I fear Kosi will stay on the wing but the guy should’nt be anywhere near first grade ever again he’s just not up to it.
My preference would be to push Pompey out to the other wing and have Berry and Ali(once fit) in centres- maaaaybe EIT if he’s ready for first grade.
It’s a tragedy the key injuries have struck and it’ll be tough to overcome but at the start of the year I would have seen a place in the 8 as a success.
Club really needs to recruit some quality wingers with some speed and X factor, is our main weakness at the moment

Is there room for a team in Wellington or is that Warriors territory?
Ideally you’d probably want both Wellington AND Christchurch in the long run but as stand alone a they’re both probably about 75% there Geographically just too far apart to have any real chance of any sort of joint effort.
Despite what some say that have likely never been there the stadium is fine, ideally would be rectangular but it’s more circle than anything and quite raised so you’re not than far from the ground as you are at other ovals.
Got a great location right downtown and next to central station for transport and I’ve never had a bad view when I’ve been there- weather can be an interesting experience though
