Will the Canterbury NPC team play in the new stadium as well?
Possibly most but not all?

I was reading an article the other day that said that NZ Rugby was keen to take some NPC (National Provincial Championship) games to smaller venues, as the crowds get lost in bigger stadiums, plus those venues cost more to hire.

Already Wellington is taking games to Porirua Park this year, and I'm thinking Auckland might follow suit. Christchurch might be different given they've just spent a lot on the new stadium, but if a satellite town/suburb like (say) Rolleston puts up a good case for a game or two, why not?

are there any plans to keep or demolish the old rugby league park stadium?

the Canterbury NPC team could possibly use this.

im almost sure they will eventually take the majority of NPC games to the more smaller provincial stadiums as they already struggle to fill the big stadiums for super rugby as it is.

the talk I heard was that they are considering moving more super rugby games to these smaller provincial stadiums.

would be better for the competition and grassroots game for the NZRU to do so and engage more with the local communities.
