Thought I'd do some data on the last four clubs to get a new stadium and the effect its had on their average crowds
For obvious reasons I've left 20-21 out of tallies.
Roosters
2016-18 at the old Allianz saw them with averages of 10.2k, 16k and 16.7k
2019, 22 at the SCG 18.5k and 13.2k
2023 onwards at the new Allianz 21k, 22k, now 22.8k this year with games to come.
Eels
2015-16 at Pirtek 12.6 and 12.5k
2017-18 at ANZ 16.8k and 10.3k
2019 onward at Bankwest/Commbank
20.3k, 21.6k, 18.9k, 18.8k... this year only 15,739 but do have the derby coming up next week and a few decent home games to come. Also low on the table
Cowboys
2016-2019 at 1300SMILES - 17.2k, 16.5k, 15.4k, 13.6k
2022 since at QC Bank - 17.8k, 19.1k, 19.7k, so far this year 18.4k.
A little further back, but
Storm
2005-2009 at Olympic Park - 8.9k, 10.8k, 11.7k, 11.9k
2010-2013 at AAMI - 14.6k, 14.2k, 12.6k, 16.3k
This year 21,685 and counting with at least two prosective sellouts (Dogs and Broncos) possible.
Essentially, it seems to me that a new, quality stadium will result in increased crowds for clubs. I'd go so far as to extend that to places like Brookvale where they put a new stand in at the northern end and in the years since seem to sell the joint out more regularly.
Imagine what the Wahs could do with a good-quality new 40k stadium.
