English teams hate the french ones. An NRL Europe would address that.
They are talking about expanding to 14

But yeh the majority of English clubs don’t support the French clubs

Imagine a club like hudderfield which averages around 4K fans and its owner wants to kick out Catalans who average close to 9k

And Salford can’t pay wages

Mind boggling

Arl has way too much to sort out here to worry about England

Plus poms won’t want Aussies running the league their way

If NRL are interested big six will jump.

the English fans don’t like the French teams cause it’s an away game they can’t drive to in 30mins

English clubs got mad when a report came out showing how much money Catalans make from travelling English fans and that’s when talk of taking away their grant started

It’s more than any other super league club by a long way

Travel to France is cheap and the south of France is a lot nicer than m62 land lol

How much do they make out of the travelling fans beyond them attending the game? How much approx are we talking about?
They only make stuff out of fans travelling to their games but city of peripgnan heavily invests in the club bc of the tourist dollars they make

Couldn’t find the article but from memory they make way more than any other super league club from away fans

It’s hardly any of their fans travel to English grounds

Quite the opposite, the fans love a trip to Perpignan. Having done it its one of the seasons highlights for many.

the clubs dont like the French club as it takes 1.5million a year out of the pot and adds nothing to the value of the tv or sponsorship deals that feeds the pot. Personally I think they are a great addition and hope Toulouse can be part of the 14, but from a business sense I get why the English clubs see it as a negative ROI.

HKR get around an avg of 400 away fans at each game at Craven Park. Catalans games get 1000-2000 fans travelling over. Its a great weekend away and your right the town makes plenty of money from it. But thats not why English clubs have an issue with their inclusion. There are some clubs in SL that dont bring enough fans to away games to worry about it as a revenue earner.

Dragons not adding anything to the value of UK tv deals and sponsorships is the real issue when they are getting a 12th share of the pot. They were supposed to generate Tv revenue from France and it just hasnt happened.

Half the clubs in the league offer nothing outside the top 8

Salford can’t even play wages and many clubs can’t even afford the full salary cap

For their entire existence they’ve been pretty competitive and they bring loads of benefits even if they don’t have a tv deal yet

They used to pay bein sports to show their games and then sky got those games as part of their coverage so that helps the tv deal

You need to redo your maths lol. If the top 8 add something out of 12 then how can half offer nothing?

Dragons dont add 1pound to Skys subscriptions or UK advertisors sales so how can they be of any value to them?

I think Dragons do ad different value to being in SL, but it certainly isnt any monetary value.

HKR's biggest crowd of the year (and attendance record at new Craven park) was V dragons as we didnt have to allocate 850 seats to away fans and could sell the whole ground to our home fans!
Wow 9500 when you’re club just won the cc and is topping the league

lol

They do if sky show their games

It’s free content for them

Investing over a million pounds or wherever the grant is In Catalans v Salford Wakey

Salford can’t even afford wages

Catalans have been a stunning success for super league. Only time expansion has worked like this. You would think all the game would celebrate it

There’s a section of fans of your game that just need to die off. Unless their club is in super league they hate the sport
