Them asking the Aussie govt for 30 million. Pa to trump the 25 million pa league is getting

Unions days in Tonga samoa and Fiji are numbered
thing is half that $600m aus gov cash is for pasific islands like tonga samoa cook island fiji etc. $300m / 4 = $75m each for their pathways and development programs.

papua only getting $300m of that $600m total with $60m already gone into existing clubs coffers as license fee.

thats still alot of cash. they are individually getting more than perth is, technically (although i dont think that final value for perth pathways is the actual true value, i think its higher tbh).

ever since Bears got in a couple posters dropped off this sub forum. they were the switched on ones too, shame.

Nearly. $250mill 'for the game across the pacific'. Be interesting to see how they spend it.

PNG club getting $290mill, NRL clubs bribe $60mill.

Id suggest in that $290mill for ten years is the money to cover the NRL grant to them of around $20mill+ a year over ten years, plus around $25mill start up costs.
Cost of Hunters in Qlnd cup and PNG jnr sides in other Qlnd comps probably accounting for the rest.

ok so $62.5m a pop between the 4 main pacific islander rl nations. not as much as perth but still a lot of cash for them really.

im sure it'll work out something like samoa tonga and fiji will get majority with cook islands getting a smaller amount, simply due to strength of the game.

Not sure thats how it will be divvied up. It'll pay for stuff like the pacific cup. Fiji moving up to NSW cup and possibly SG ball and Flegg sides, PI's Int sides taking part in Int comps etc. Also PNG pathway programs.
How much makes it to grassroots in the other islands will be the potential game changer.

It’s 25 million pa over ten years. Obviously Fiji should get the most given its population whilst Samoa tonga and cooks split the rest

It’s funny it took an article on union trying to match this for people to want to discuss this when before they were ignoring it or making fun of it

PNG will get the most, thats the pot that is paying for all the PNG jnr grassroots development.
After that you'd expect Fiji. Be good ot get schools and a decent league set up over there alongside the elite Jnr pathways and sides.
Like I said I fully expect the NRL to carve out a big chunk for themselves to pay for stuff like the Pacific cup.

Again for the people who have no comprehension ability!
I think Catalans are a welcome addition to SL and hope to see Tolouse in as well, but I also understand why clubs that are fiancially struggling and seeing central revenue decreasing are questioning why they get a 12th of the pot when they financially add nothing to it.

Bring stability. See Salford

Its not clear but I would be surprised if the $250mill isnt covering the PNG grassroots and schools programs. NRL want PNG to be cost neutral to them so the $290mill club funding will be covering 10 years of NRL grant and start up costs. After that it doesnt leave much left to spend on grassroots in PNG.

“A $600 million deal signed by the Australian government and the NRL last December included the introduction of a new team in Papua New Guinea, investment in grassroots development, and a $250 million contribution to growing rugby league’s footprint in Tonga, Samoa and Fiji.”

And no the 290 million doesn’t include the nrl grant stop making stuff up

No-ones making anything up, its speculation as nobody has been publicly privy to the budget expenditure lines.
The $290mill has also been stated as being 'for the NRL club'. So where's the PNG grassroots funding coming from if not from the $250mill?

haha you think the club is getting $29mill a year PLUS $20mill from the NRL? With all the alleged sponsors lined up they'd have more revenue than the Broncos!!

From the money that’s been allocated specifically for png

It’s not all for the nrl side

Indeed the nrl side doesn’t even need that much money other than set up costs

The nrl plus compote sponsorship will be good for 25 millllion on its own

'The funding is carved up so that $290 million goes to support the team’s operations,'

'$250 million for a Pacific rugby league partnership, which also covers Fiji, Tonga and Samoa, to encourage grassroots participation and establish a pathway for elite athletes.'

Use your noggin and stop being a punish lol

It’s always been 350 million for png and 250 for the rest

250 millon is a game changer for tonga Samoa and Fiji

Union can forget about those places now

lol, do you even follow this? It’s never been $350mill for png and nor has it ever been stated that the $250mill is just for fiji, Samoa and tonga.

Maybe if you had read all the articles for the last year instead of making fun of the whole png idea

This is not news
