How do you get 0.4 of a person watching a game?

Its pure chance of box placement, if me and my 5 RL loving friends had happened by chance to get an oztam box the Perth ratings for NRL games would be tripled. On just 5 different households in WA having a box.
You didn't go beyond Primary School level education I assume.

Nope

Average ratings

You can’t charge a subscriber more cause the game goes for longer

Ratings dont exist for subscribers. They exist for advertisers, and time watched matters in thst regard

But you can charge advertisers and broadcast partners more. Which is why ratings are measured at all.

Funny how you like minutes watched on occasions.

That’s a cracker of a stat

And if it's all about average viewers, why are they talking about minutes watched all the time?

More ads but less viewers so it’s a wash

Nrl has way more subs

Ratings are the key metric

You’ll see in the next tv deal when nrl gets more than the 418 million pa Foxtel pays afl

Then you will have no excuses

Just like that reach bs it’s not a relevant stat

This is assumed based solely on ratings, because as far as Im aware that information has never been released.

The things the NRl have added to the competition, and inflation would have probably done that anyway. NRL deal wont start until the AFL one is half done..

You aree the one with the excuses.

if you say so

Maybe you don’t know how subscription tv works

They make money from subscribers

They don’t charge you by how many minutes you watch

Yes but more minutes watched means more ads watched before/after the game and at half time. Foxtel makes 40% revenue from advertising. This is growing and might be 50% by the start of the next deal. So, minutes watched is vitally important.

When advertising becomes a significant part of the revenue like fta then you would be correct

We will see in the upcoming tv deal. Fox is paying afl 418 million. It Stan or Fox pay more then we will know

Lmao it’s not 40 percent

Mr Thomson continued: “We believe Foxtel is particularly well-positioned for both subscriber and advertising growth as Kayo and Binge have gained traction given their unique strengths in sports and entertainment programming. Those two services added almost 200,000 paying subscribers in the quarter and digital advertising now represents more than 40 percent of Foxtel’s total advertising with Kayo growing 42 percent compared to the prior year and the recently rolled-out ad offering at BINGE growing fourfold. We will keep you updated on the advertising renaissance as the quarters unfold.”

In fact

The accounts show Foxtel had a good year for advertising. It reported revenue of $2.9 billion in the 2024 financial year, which was made up of $2.5 billion from subscribers, $360 million in advertising and $46 million from agency and installation fees.

Its about 12% of revenue.

Just wait and see with the next tv deal

Make believe stats like reach and minutes watched don’t have a big impact on pay tv

Just because you dont believe them doesnt make them "make believe". It makes you ignorant because you anchor yourself to one stat and believe it makes up everything relevant. Its not that black and white.

The only key metric is subscribers

which have never been split into AFL/NRL or any other sport.

12 percent of revenue lol

Yeh advertising makes a big impact on pay tv

I’ve posted the split before from a journalist. You saying you don’t know is just ignorance

The nrl pay tv deal will easily beat the afl tv deal.

I know you don’t like to admit nrl has way more subscribers and you make believe it’s all just the same league fans watching more games than afl fans do but we’ll see when the nrl pay tv deal is a cracker

Please find and post it again. And with numbers. because theres been nothing in any rreports published by News Cop.

I know you want it to, and given it starts three years after the AFL one with all the additional boltons, it better.

I wont admit things without evidence, and as far as Im aware you havent got it. Ratings are not subscriptions.

This is the first year of the blockbuster $4.5 billion contract signed by the AFL, Foxtel and Seven in 2022. The contract will run until 2031; Foxtel pays about $418 million a year to the AFL as part of the deal.

What has changed since the last deal? Does Vegas add more subscribers? What will make the deal jump up 20%? Or do we just accept that PVL simply stuffed up the last deal?
