I’d like to see NRLW start to introduce new teams in areas that don’t have nrl teams. Places like Sunshine Coast, or even a Melbourne 2. Women’s sport is ripe for the picking and the NRL is in a box seat. No need to recreate the same problem we have with 8/9 Sydney based nrl teams.

Because of high participation of touch and oztag in both traditional and non traditional areas, and the appetite for women’s semi professional sport, we can move leaps and bounds ahead here.

These locations might then become viable for an nrl team as well.

Lots of teams in Sydney isn't a problem, it's a strength. It's why broadcast deal is so big. Should do same in Brisbane.

If we get to 22, there’s no reason why 2 teams can’t have a bye each week, having 10 games a week is probably the limit but means less origin affected rounds

I made this thread as being the overwhelming success the NRL now is. With the inclusion of Perth and PNG there's no disputing the fact that the NRL and RL is now the biggest competition and sport in the pacific.
The can be proven to be undisputed by the absence of Perth Red..
There is no NRL team, or very little RL presence in every Pacific nation though.

And no, PNG is not a PI.

I would have liked that as well but it is now a prerequisite that a club wanting an NRLW licence has to already have an NRL licence.

I believe North Sydney Bears were turned down because of this years ago.

When all the NRL franchisees have a Women’s team, along with the brand that they already capitalise on, they'll be able to be the certain raises for the men's saving on stadium rent, making the comp even more sustainable but improving the game day experience for everyone and likely resulting in bigger crowds.
At least that's what it looks like to me.

i 99% sure that norths were turned down for a harvey norman cup team (top tier state cup), not nrlw team (they never went for one) but the reason is the same. there was no path for HN cup team to go up in.

No they had a Harvey Norman’s women’s premiership team previously. https://www.northsydneybears.com.au/teams/womens/

That competition also includes teams like Mounties, Illawarra, Wentworthville and Central Coast. https://www.nswrl.com.au/ladder/?competition=162

Penrith women >>> Blacktown or st Mary’s

Redcliffe women’s >> kayo

Titans >>> Burleigh / tweed if there’s a ground
