Unfortunately the Brisbane test is the 3rd match of the Ashes series.

If it was the 1st test you'd be more inclined to play Khawaja and even Labs on their home wicket. If they scored runs and got some confidence then you could keep them in the side for the series.

I can't find a shield schedule. But once again there are a number of vacancies in Australia's top 4. The guy who open the batting have a big chance to make their way into the Ashes side.

Khawaja looks completely clueless against anything above medium pace. He was the same against Bumrah, and the same against South Africa. He will be OK for the Ashes if he comes up against the popgun attack England have in the current test, but I'd be worried if he was facing Archer or Wood.

Konstas also looks out of his depth, but at least he will improve.

There isn't an obvious better option available to replace either, so i guess we're stuck with them.

They've been a lot better than I expected tbh. Mostly the bowling, they have three legitimate weapons in their attack in Searles and the Joseph (non)Brothers
