I doubt the first is carrying any real value other than being content filler. No-ones choosing to subscribe to Fox for NRLW is the harsh reality.Plus expanded nrlw

You obviously haven’t seen the ratings for women’s originI doubt the first is carrying any real value other than being content filler. No-ones choosing to subscribe to Fox for NRLW is the harsh reality.
Womens origin has yet to show any monetary value from Tv. Ch9 paid nothing more this deal than the last one.
Int RL is growing nicely and hopefully sees some value in it, yet to be seen.
The real value add is in the extra clubs and in seeing if they can get better deals if they change who covers what when. But of course the significant increase will only come of there is competitive tension.
I expect rounds to be cut - that takes a hit from TV
PNG doesn't have the TV money to add YET anyway.
So the 10th game has a value but this deal started at $400m. Not sure enough has been added to get a 33% increase
AFL achieved 37% increase with some tweaking of covg and adding a 19th club.

I have seen the tv deal Ch9 signed. And seen how much they valued getting a growing womens state of origin as part of their deal. You obviously haven’t seen the ratings for women’s origin
It will be interesting to see how the woman’s nrlw game rated last night against the afl
Nrlw plus women’s origin should be worth at least an extra five million pa on the tv deal
Apples for apples so yes media deal increase. Are you counting the full $641m in that 37%
.The added 9 years worth of their magic round they added the extra rounds in the old deal too.
How do they have Origin standalone and more tests? Without shortening the season?
Was there even one women’s origin game the last time the tv deal was doneI have seen the tv deal Ch9 signed. And seen how much they valued getting a growing womens state of origin as part of their deal.
Should, could, maybe.
Like I said I doubt anyone is buying Fox subsriptions due to NRLW.

Are you saying in Dec 2021 the NR didnt know it was going to go to a 3 game series in 2023, and that wasnt part of the negotiations with Ch9 at the time for the start of the deal in 2023? That's a heck of a coincidence!Nine signed the tv deal in late 2021. Women's Origin only became a three match series just last year.
Any potential ratings increases for the NRLW and NRLW origin back then were optimistic and theoretical only. Now we have hard data of the growth of NRLW so it will no doubt be worth a lot more. Are you saying in Dec 2021 the NR didnt know it was going to go to a 3 game series in 2023, and that wasnt part of the negotiations with Ch9 at the time for the start of the deal in 2023? It was worth nothing then. It's not an unusual strategy to basically give away a product to build its value so you can charge for it later. Are you saying in Dec 2021 the NR didnt know it was going to go to a 3 game series in 2023, and that wasnt part of the negotiations with Ch9 at the time for the start of the deal in 2023? I wouldn’t mind split screen adverts if the game got more money out of the broadcast deals.I was watching the Wallabies game yesterday on ch 9.
As soon as there was a knock on or a kick into touch they went straight to add break. Ch 9 crammed as many commercials into live play as they possibly could.
Compare this to 9’s NRL coverage where there is only 3 or 4 adverts per half.
Is the NRL getting as much out of 9 as they can ? If 9 show more commercials during live play the NRL can get more $$$ out of thier FTA deal.
Yes, I know Union has longer and more stoppages but there is still plenty of opportunities during league. Scrums and drop outs take 30 seconds, there’s an opportunity for a 15 second commercial. There is also the opportunity for Picture in Picture adverts like they do in the F1.
The more adverting space 9 can sell the more money for the NRL
Do you honestly think that a commercial TV station is not maximising their opportuntities for ad revenue?I was watching the Wallabies game yesterday on ch 9.

They have had split-screen adverts on NRL games on FTA for about a decade now (maybe longer)I wouldn’t mind split screen adverts if the game got more money out of the broadcast deals.
Because NRL games are virtually commercial free, there is less than 1 minute per half of in game commercials. You don’t think there are more opportunities?Do you honestly think that a commercial TV station is not maximising their opportuntities for ad revenue?
And if so, why do you believe that?
Last time I had the unfortunate experience of having to switch the footy on FTA they were still taking full commercial breaks from the footy. They have had split-screen adverts on NRL games on FTA for about a decade now (maybe longer)
I don’t have Kayo so I’m stuck with FTA. It must nice not having to listen to Thompson, Gould and Joey …Last time I had the unfortunate experience of having to switch the footy on FTA they were still taking full commercial breaks from the footy.
Happy to be corrected but I assume when, how many and length of ads is a tv decision and nothing to do with Union or AFL. And I assume all revenue from ads goes to the tv station although in an indirect way a tv station that can generate higher ad revenues would be expected to pay a higher broadcast fee to the sporting organisation (talking at a very high and general level).Canard is correct in saying they would be maximising advertising space but I feel as though the NRL is leaving money on the table and not taking full advantage of FTA advertising space. Especially when compared to Union and AFL who ram ads into thier coverage every chance they get.
