Not defending Young and I wouldn’t be advocating he get the job but judging any coach on a short term interim role where the previous coach was sacked and the team was already struggling is a really bad metric to judge a coach on. Pretty much all interim coaches have terrible records. It should be obvious why.

LKT is on a Isaiah Katoa type trajectory.

Stretching it there, but he does look progressively better.

Perhaps but i am not prepared to give him a chance he needs to head overseas like Willie Peters and others before i would even be open to the idea.

LKT's rise has been a subtle one but he is looking better with each game, more comfortable and capable. He's no x factor as yet but he doesn't look out of place, and he isn't playing amongst a super star forward pack or halves partner. As I have said previously, don't know how Atkinson slots in but I just don't want to LKT flung back to reserves.

If we are going for a DCE what happens with LKT, Atkinson and Flanagan? I suppose depth will at least not be an issue.

If we pair DCE with either LKT or Atkinson we will have solved or halves problem for 2 years. And then when Reed comes in, not only would he have been helped by DCE, but LKT and Atkinson will be good first graders.

Young has done nothing to deserve getting the head coach job. The only thing he has going for him is the back room deals made by his father.

Two clubs that are run professionally make a huge difference winning starts where?

The Dogs & Warriors had years of overhaul of the recruitment and football dept behind the scenes.. Gus putting guns into every staff position off the field, plus signing class players across all grades of competition.... Warriors have an incredible pool of talent to call on (which apparently we are only seeing the tip of), and Gus was particularly glowing about the owner at the helm of the club also.....

i.e. if Ciraldo or Webster had of rocked up @ Saints at any point in the last 5 years or even next year.. training out of a shed... could they do something with this roster? I really doubt it..

However.. with our new CEO at the helm, can we start to fix our recruitment and football dept so its not just Flanno trying to do it all? If so then yes maybe in 2yrs time.. we could be ready for a rookie coach.. but.. tbf I wouldnt mind seeing what Flanagan could do if he had some quality support too.. very lazy of us as a club to just sit on our hands this last 2yrs in particular... the old boys behind the scenes just assuming they could just go back to doing what theyve always done.. as if all they had to do was hire Flanno and call it a day.

Watched the replay of the rugby Aussie v Fiji match , tremendous attacking skills shown by both teams perhaps more so the Fijians who were a touch unlucky not to win the match.

But there were a number of their players that were really skilful as well as some big tough forwards who more than held their own against our pack .

Quite sure that a few scouts from the NRL clubs were watching and possibly have made overtures to them in joining our game - hopefully we also had our own scouts in attendance ?

Depth and competition for spots certainly isn’t hurting Canberra.
