Sack Flanagan

I have a different take. I believe the Dragons should progressively sack and replace the following staff during the rest of this season. Have the CEO earn his keep:
Dean Young
Carr
Haran
Millard
Millward
Fitness Staff

This to get rid of the dead wood and show S Flannagan the Board is serious and committed to make changes. If things do not improve, then sack S Flannagan.
Why Carr?

Flanno deserves to be around another 3 years he has built the team and has given many juniors a Nrl debut this season looking strong next season. The game v Canberra and 3 games beaten by Golden Point this season would put us in the top 5 . But he needs to move on his assistant D young and bring in a professional defensive coach.

Flanno absolutely needs to be extended stop distractions

Which three games have we lost in golden point this year?
I can recall one v the eels who have only won four other matches besides that one, so it's hardly a ringing endorsement of a hard fought loss when you consider how the eels are travelling thus far.

It's great that some juniors have been given debuts this year, but that isn't the standalone criteria for a coach to get an extension, you or me could coach a team in the NRL if that's all there was to it.

What concerns me the most is looking at the stats year on year with 15 matches played:

2024 - 8 wins, 7 losses, 322 for and 352 against.

2025 - 6 wins, 9 losses, 330 for and 379 against.

So statistically speaking, we're only slightly better in one aspect being attack.

Remember when Flanagan said pre season we're a way better team this year than last year? I do.
Do these stats back up what Flanagan said?
Nope they don't.

No way on this earth is he yet worthy of any extension and I daresay these numbers will look worse as the season continues to progress considering the soft draw we had to start the season.

If we don't get at least 10th which is no better than Grifins second year it should be curtains for him

I get both sides of argument re Shane. His results aren't great and it's a results based business. More than that I think many will be expecting him to drop Kyle soon or at least when Atkinson comes, that will be telling if he does or doesnt....

But there's enough evidence that, with the right signings, we might be on the cusp of more success in the next couple of years and it's far more unsettling to bring in a new head coach at this point. Not sure how he is regarded amongst the playing group, you don't hear a lot of praise but then again, players are fickle these days. Moreover, who honestly is available that would be better choice as coach? If Ivan became available, or Bellamy, it's a different story.

Id extend him 2 years and go for broke. Need players badly though and excuses are running out.

What's the rush
Not like any other club is interested?
He gets the boys in the top 8 and he can have a reward.
If he does not there is no point.
He has signed 15 new players of the current 28 and extended another 4 of them.
The rest are juniors coming through
This is his roster
Like the players that in his mind are under performing, he moves them on, the same way management will look at where we end up and if its worse than Griffins 10th place in his second year then it’s probably time to make a call on his under performance and move him on.
He has his destiny in his hands
It's simple
NO MORE EXCUSES

Set imaginary bar, cry when expectation isn't met.

Rinse / repeat
What's the 'imaginary bar' you speak of?
Do you mean supporters of the club actually having reasonable expectations on how the club should be performing under this coach?

We were told by the coach himself we're a way better team this year than last year, so far it's the opposite.

To gain an extension it's fair to assume Flanagan would have some performance KPIs to meet, I guess you're of the view that as he has handed out some debuts it's a job well done and extension pending? That sounds more like an imaginary and extremely naive bar to set.

10th is an unrealistic imaginary bar ?
You are killing me with laughter with your low expectations
That bar was what was achieved by the previous coach (Griffin) in his second year and he was was SACKED
Management made it clear what they thought of that failed achievement
Seems like your bar is 19th cause THE IMAGINARY 18th team, could in your expectations be too high for us to catapult

Now there's some sad things known to man
But ain't too much sadder than the tears of a clown
When there's no one around

Spot on mate but just a refresh on some of the logic of our old mates on here:

- Flanagan needs more time at the 1.5 year mark of his 3 year deal because we're rebuilding from Griffin's two and a half seasons as coach.

- In Griffin's two and a half seasons, he had ample time to rebuild from his predecessor Mary's six years as coach. However please don't compare this to the time Flanagan has had now as it hurts too many feelings.

- Griffin definitely had the roster he wanted in the same amount of time as Flanagan, but Flanagan doesn't have his roster yet. Don't ask why, just coz.

- Even though it is likely we will have a worse season this year than last, well nothing to see here as we had injuries, lost some close games and how good that some juniors got a run this year. This alone is why Flanagan should be extended.

Anyway to conclude, I cannot wait for this fool of a coach to be moved on and we get a coach who actually has some integrity and knowledge.

So funny reading this thread. The three stooges better bunker down when Flanno gets extended . Blaming the coach for everything , missing out on signings is HIS fault. NOT THE CLUBS.. acting Like we’ve signed sooo many superstars since 2010 LOL

Hunt, Norman hahaha yes Deffs Flanno fault players don’t want to come in 2025/2026..

Find me an “excellent “ signing since Bennett left???

Even past players leaving eg mcinnes, Saab (terrible) , Garrick , Robson.

let’s blame Flanno for that also hahaha

Nothing has changed from coach to coach to coach. We still dish up the same crap and are incapable of playing for 80 minutes.

In no world does anything improve while we are coached by this incompetent fool and his son plays in the halves, both need to be moved on immediately.
