Classic case of a small sample. He has only filled in at NRL level, so he’s played where he was needed. Look at his NSW Cup career for his positional experience.

Surprised to see Guymer getting the starting role, as he's been namedand overlooked before - maybe he's the patsy for Samrani to shift to the edge forward when Simonsson comes in?

Good to see Da Silva on the bench for a taste... I guess we have to put up with Lussick starting for a while longer? But hopefully Smith is second in the future pecking order and grabs the bench spot when Da Silva is ready to start (with Lussick demoted).

And speaking of the future, I reckon once Moses is due back, we go with Papalii at 6 and let Dylan have several weekends off to go house hunting etc....

He’s an amazing reserve grader, but yes, only as a fullback. Halves need to be able to kick and defend in the line.

You want backups who can defend, and Russell and Guymer are both okay at this. They don't need to be given the same level of responsibility in attack as a top 17 player. Someone else can step up in attack, but you can't hide anyone in defence.

100% and I am not sure whether he will be a success at 5/8, however his only game (yep small example) at 5/8 was pretty good defensively especially with him being targeted! But he will be targeted, so may not be able to do week to week.

Additionally I wouId be very surprised that kid with his skill level couldn't kick. Yeah it might be poor right now, but nothing a good attitude and practice that couldn't get it up to a decent level (not as a main kicker, but as a support kicker to Moses)

This is basically it. Your halfback will be doing a majority of the kicking and game management you want a 5/8 that will then be able to add to that in some way not be expected to do all the halfback work.

The Gronk from the Broncos can't defend for shit but is still rated as one of the best 5/8s running around. As he chimes in when needed.
