“We definitely believe”: Allan optimistic ahead of key clash
Corey Allan chats to the media about the side’s trip to Canberra, preparing for a key clash on home soil & the strides he is making on-field.

This has been the case for many games, forwards getting smashed, on the back foot, defending our line and trying to get out of our own half. Why is Lawrie selected in front of LPT and Fafita? The metres gained by our middles is crucial. Lawrie cannot compete with the 2 young middles and their charges help to ensure we are putting up an attacking kick on the last tackle. If you watched the Canberra game back, the whole Raiders attack comes of the back of their charges when coming out of their territory. Their back five don't jog back, they charge back, land on elbows and knees. They then fight to get up, walk off the mark by 3 metres and play the ball super quick. The next charge is now running at a retreating defence. Jamal Fogarty is then putting up an attacking kick from 40m out from our line. This extra 10 to 15m obtained by better, quicker, smarter, further charges is the reason that all Canberra's kicks were landing on and around our tryline. Unfortunately for Kyle, his kicks were usually from our own side of halfway. In the arm wrestle, it is essential we scrap and fight for every metre. Therefore Lawrie should not be there. He makes very few metres, gets pushed back, rolled on his back and then he dishes up the slowest play the ball.
This is why we are useless when we need a field goal. We struggle to get the role up the field to get us into field goal position.
Yes, I agree Flinstone I cannot understand as well. Good first up post. Welcome to the Forum. This has been the case for many games, forwards getting smashed, on the back foot, defending our line and trying to get out of our own half.
The only way we can get good field position is when the other team makes an error or gives away a penalty. Did Canberra even make 1 error in the first half.
Lawrie is just too slow, Guler went missing, how does a starting front rower make 1 hit up.
Roosters V Tigers last week - Naufahu Whyte and Tarrell May both 22 runs for over 200m.
The coach is aware that our forwards are not laying a good enough platform for the halves to do anything however we just don't have the players up front.
Flano has said in the past he has people around him that pick the side each week.
I can't understand why he or they keep picking Lawrie. Fifita seems to play short minutes.
Given that Flanno lis too busy coaching Flanno Jnr, he as delegated Spellchecks to Dean Young. But don’t you blokes think Flano can’t do a thing wrong ?
or is it Dean Young and Ben Haran also selecting the team these days?
Back the truck up, when did Flanagan say he doesn't pick the side? That doesn't sound right. This has been the case for many games, forwards getting smashed, on the back foot, defending our line and trying to get out of our own half.

Coaching staff including himself pick what they think is the best side each week.Back the truck up, when did Flanagan say he doesn't pick the side? That doesn't sound right.
I share your wondering on Guler, very poor effort against the Faders. I thought Blocka had one of his best games this year against them. Perhaps Flanno sees the young forwards as needing a rest as they are eased into firsts. Not sureLawrie and Guler why ?
I prefer the other 2 guys you mentioned.
100%. We will need to be fired up to compete with them. Walker being back is a huge in for them and Teddy has a habit of regularly destroying us in recent times.Roosters be far too good over 80.
Im expecting to get the scorewe were expecting to get last week if we make as many mistakes as we did last week.
Chooks love belting us.
I hope they surprise and play as spirited as they did last week.
Val Holmes is a top class player with lightening acceleration and high end speed. Glad he is with us. At fullback Val would go well.
Zac played his usual busy game last night and kicked a good sideline conversion. Many carries but not a SOO player. Unfortunately that miss tackle for Qld 1st try was a feeble looking effort.
Im glad he is at Parramatta and as that is basically how we got Val Holmes.
Holmes is a good player no doubt, but fullback? He played fullback at the Cowboys for most of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He was so good as a fullback, the Cowboys put him back in the centres in 2022 and that's where he stayed until he left the Cowboys to come to the Dragons. I watched some his games at fullback in that period, and he just isn't that good a fullback.
Before blaming any NSW players for last night's results, I would point the finger at coach Daley. Furthermore, I'd say if Mage was the coach last night, the result wold be different. Daley has never coached well.Val Holmes is a top class player with lightening acceleration and high end speed. Glad he is with us. At fullback Val would go well.
