A bit of an Origin hangover but, in effect, we're on the exciting run to the finals!

Friday, it's do-or-die time for Cronulla, surely? They've slipped badly but thier opponents, Redcliffe, are in solid form. Fitzy in the box will be extra intense.

Saturday, Newcastle have a shot at the Storm. Only because of that aforementioned hangover, particularly from Munster. St George v Easts, once again, quite a few either rested or backing up. The Cowboys need all hands on deck if they're to upset Canterbury and try to save their season. But the Bulldogs are a bit wobbly, so Payten may survive another week.

Sunday, we know Luai will be angry, we know the Warriors are wobbly, but let's be positive, eh? We need this badly though. Parramatta host Penrith, Cleary with a point to prove! We close with Hasler's Titans hosting Brisbane on Reece TV. Let's hope Dessie gets some attention upon his 'retirement' announcement.

Enjoy.

Has anyone seen the Gallen and SBW piece after Origin last night ? SBW should stop trying to string sentences together, it isn’t his strong point

And as PW wrote: "the starting halfbacks for all four teams this weekend are Titans rejects. Fogarty, Sexton, Hughes and Boyd."

It is quite amazing, that.
Help me comprehend this statement please. Theres like 14 teams playing.

In a picking comp I'm in I have to pick the winner of Gallen v SBW. I was surprised to find SBW is favourite. Gallen's boxing career reached slightly higher heights than SBW's and they're both ancient and punch drunk (SBW possibly more so and has shown more of a tendency to be a bit chinny) so I don't see the 4-year age gap being a massive factor.

SBW has never shown the defensive skills to stay out of harm's way against an aggressive opponent so unless Gallen's activity level has dropped significantly I can't see how SBW keeps him off him.

Honestly, of all the things I don't care about, this is #1. Two of yesterday's men trying to hype up a boxing match with some of the most embarrassing, forced smack talk I've ever heard.

Boxing, the sport where you win by causing a brain injury. We are currently trying ourselves in knots to remove head contact from every other sport apart from...boxing.

As I've said, boxing and me didn't make it into the 21st Century. Wednesday night would be a difficult watch. It could be worse, they could've been up against a younger opponent, who is a natural boxer.

What might save these two here is that they're both just a couple of old footy players, duking it out.

I’m no expert at all, but Gallen said he expects SBW to run away from him most of the fight, which is why he was so keen on 2 min rounds

Yeah I won’t be paying for it, but would be keen to see highlights of Sonny on his back

I don’t think Gallens talk is forced, he genuinely can’t stand him

Yeah I would expect SBW to try to pot shot and then hold for dear life when Gal closes the distance. Obviously Gal is a tank but SBW is also very physically strong so he might be able to frustrate Gal by just being very negative in close and not allowing a fight to break out. He's probably banking on winning the short rounds by landing a couple of clean shots and then tying Gal up and running the clock down.

Against older and slower opponents in the past SBW has shown the ability to win rounds with his athleticism and hand speed which I think disguises the fact his defence isn't great. If Gal is still fit enough to be busy for 16 minutes I see SBW having problems.

And yes, I apologise to everyone for doing analysis as if this is a semi-serious boxing match.

I hope he goes okay after footy. Kinda feel that he's one that might really struggle in retirement

They have him on Levels every couple of weeks, and think I’ve heard him say he has been doing some courses, and is lining up social work/mentoring sort of stuff post footy

Think he is a big loss for the Titans, he is their genuine half, and behind that they are trying to convert fullbacks. It’s a squad very light on senior leadership too so it’s a loss there

And as has been said this week they’ve let a bunch of decent halves leave, guess that was partly Ash Taylor? Dunno but aside from with Hos and a veteran team they’ve been appalling, notably atm where they have talent and a proven coach
