This is the sort of game and result that separates the astute NRL enthusiast and lover of the game with that of the parasitical ex-player media class and general all round low-brow intellects in the media.
The news highlight hails 4 in a row wins to Panthers, return to glory for Cleary.
Yet the the result turned on two errors in an overall diabolically one-sided performance by the ref. The first an error of commission the second an error of omission resulting in an 8 point turn around that ultimately proved a gap too big to brook.
the 1st a penalty against in eels in possession, 2nd tackle on their own ten for an offence that had a crack down in the first 2 or 3 rounds yet was never miraculously seen again for another 15 rounds or more till out of the blue here it was: incorrect play the ball against JAC resulting in a penalty conversion and 2 point lead to the Panthers!
The 2nd the error of omission the ref failing to enforce his own standard on the Panthers, Eisenhuth clearly incorrectly playing the ball, no foot on ball, worse than JAC's!, yet not only not a penalty but resulting in a six again and a converted try FFS!!
8 points.
For this young gun Eels team up against a humiliating and condescending Fox sports commentary team with an equally corrupt policing effort on the field it proved too much, just as it did in the 3rd state of origin.
Yet all we get from Voss and pEnnis is non stop dribble, slobber and gibber glazing the Panthers for taking the constant chances they were given and at the same time deriding the better team, the better coaches as some sort of neurologically divergent untermensch.
