It’s a bit simplistic to compare Manly and Cronulla IMO.

Aside from the fact Manly has a fully operational stadium (with a new stand) and Leagues Club, Brookvale offers a far superior game day experience with over a dozen breweries and a similar number of coffee roasters within walking distance. So depending on the time of the game, Brookvale offers and excellent pre or post game bevvie opportunities. Arguably one of the best in Sydney.

Compare that to the current situation at Woolaware, where your primary means of entertainment is either navigating the car park or queueing for the bus. Salubrious.
Exactly. The visit to Shark Park right now is unexceptional. Once the leagues club reopens that all changes. Two or three pints at the club, 100 metre dash inside the stadium, watch the game with a can or 2, back into the leagues club and resume pints. It’s a good gig and it’s sadly missing right now.

Minor nitpick… but why couldn’t the Warriors keep some of those temp seating stands that were there after the A-League final? I know they use the bottom of the hill as a fan zone but not sure why they couldn’t keep the top corners as above.

Another 1000+ seats to sell for a club that is selling out the majority of their games would surely make sense.

They need a more permanent solution too but finding a way to use the northern end for another 1-2k should be an easy stopgap solution.

Amazing for the 6pm graveyard slot.
Wonder if we’ll see it again in future years: guaranteed to be a good crowd either way and means taking advantage of a prime time slot with an otherwise lower drawing team

the timing was good as a lot of kids are still on schools holiday tomorrow (back on Tuesday). I think a normal sunday night might not be as successful, good to see that crowd.

People saying the Sharks don't pay rent is obviously correct compared to clubs that rent publicly owned stadiums. But you have to balance it out with the cost of the up keep and any land taxes paid (if applicable) by the Sharks.

A few interesting graphs to put this years crowds into historical context.

First graph is Sub-10k crowds. 10 years ago we were more or less getting one every single round. Now they are few and far between. We actually have less sub-10k crowds than AFL this year so far (note quite a few of the AFL's were from irregular grounds, however all are at or above 10k capacity).

Second graph is 20k+ Average NRL rounds (Excluding Magic Round)
Pretty impressive tradjectory. Added 1994 and 1995, as these are often seen as a high point for the game prior to Super League. With 8 rounds to go, I expect to see another healthy increase occuring this year, plus only just missed out this round. Could seriously see the NRL getting to 90-100% of rounds 20K+ in the next 5 years if this trend continues.
