York only advantage over Toulouse is it's a shorter away trip for m62 teams. Toulouse has big money investor and changes perception of sport. NRL used superleague teams in Vegas to show game wasn't just Australia and NZ.
That’s a very good observation

I don’t mind York
New ground

When I first started reading about English rl I would see champ and league one crowds and most were 500 to 800

York were up to 3k

North Yorkshire is a bit away from the heartland and apparently it’s a nice place to visit unlike most rugby league towns lol

Setup to fail as it's too early for them in top flight. Toulouse are ready now with more upside.

I’

as a taxpayer you should expect better
As a tax payer I expect our money to be spent on facilities as they are needed. HBF has been perfectly fine for Aleague and Super rugby and the odd NRL game.
Hopefully Perth Bears are very succesful and requires it to be upgraded again. But for now and what has been needed, as a tax payer, Im quite happy with the $200mill thats been invested in it.

Seeing Canadian falling in love with rugby league was amazing

If the nrl ever want to do something then France / Toronto is the way to go

Do you think Vlandys is pitching NRL with north and southern hemisphere comps to Netflix and Amazon?!

nah … why would they be interested in that ?

Poor old Toronto will be left to the Poms … which isn’t great for them because it’s a long way from the M62

Extends reach although not by much lol. Still superleague clubs can be bought cheap and ashes will have value and benefit.

Shame they didnt pay the players nor have the money to continue through covid like the other clubs. Built on a pack of cards like so many SL expansion forays.

Sonny bill was on more on his own than entire super league clubs

Toronto were to much of a threat to clubs from towns whose populations are 80k or less

Reality is league will only profess in England when a lot of those clubs die off or accept being feeder clubs and money is focused on key clubs

The game can’t afford so many clubs

As much as I love Toronto and the idea. It's an expensive way of doing things. There almost endless expansion opportunities without the trans Atlantic journey.

Glasgow
Dublin
London
Toulouse
Cardiff

If any of these had the financial backing Toronto had, they'd all stand a great chance of long-term viability.

North America needs It's own comp but we've seen enough false dawns on that front.

Wales would def be where I would put the energy and money, if the RFL had any.
Toulouse should be able to stand on its own.
London I honestly don't know, they've had 27 years in SL and haven't progressed as a sustainable top tier club at all. But having London in an English comp just seem obvious.

Toulouse is the only real one there. Rest are pipe dreams or need huge investment
