What a shambles. In an alternative timeline SIDHE held onto the rights and made something decent by now. Instead its Ross on his X account and the 2 coders he hired to 'work' on this game taking the piss.

I know its just a minor thing but when there are dozens of them it makes you wonder.

Atleast with the sidhe games there was some sort of improvement from number 1-3. In number 3 you could wrestle for quick play the balls and scoot from dummy half and create line breaks.

Since big ant took over it feels like they haven’t watched a game of rugby league in their lives and are getting information from 3rd parties.

People make fun of ea with their sports games but atleast the gameplay is fun. I’ve played many madden games, fifa and despite not watching those sports I can pick up the rules of the gameplay and have fun learning new ways to score.

In the rugby league live games all the players stand flat footed, if someone makes a break there is no one in support. I see they’re a Melbourne based company maybe they just listen to afl fans and think it’s a game of meat heads running hard for 5 tackles and kick.

I like that the least amount of effort (and that's saying something) has been put into the kick-off animation, the first gameplay a player will see. All 500 NRL squad members use the exact same technique to kick-off, which can only be described as an Elon Musk salute followed by a gentle swing through of the leg and elegant dismount.

There haven't been this many missing hookers since American Psycho.

Downloaded against my better judgement. Still installing so haven’t got to do much. Once it’s at a certain point it lets you do some goal kicking. You can’t choose the kicker but the default for me is ARey. Well looks like ARey. Could be a terrible rendition of Luke Walsh given the number on his jersey. How the f**k have they got that wrong?

I have one question, can you select players for the international teams like you can select players for Origin?

As from all reports it's just the last game with a new paint job, being able to choose my own Kiwis team in a career might make me want to buy it.

Actually, the fact in the old game you could choose the Origin teams and not international teams actually perfectly sums up league in the real world. :)

It is genuinely one of the worst sports games that has ever been made. No we shouldn't be happy a game was made at all because this doesn't in anyway, shape or form represent a rugby league game. Give it to someone who will actually try.

Played for an hour with my young bloke - he liked the novelty of seeing all the teams and players that he knows (he's 5) but it is horrendous. Off the top of my head in the few games we played, I noticed the following:

- the referee stands behind the ruck
- the interchange players just stand on the sideline
- the field markings are facing the wrong way at Kogarah and a couple of others (ie they face the hill and not the stand)
- the field at North Sydney Oval is oriented completely wrong and goes from the hill to the O'Reilly Stand
- there's no NSW Cup for some reason but there is the English second tier and the Q Cup
- the logos on the loading screens are low resolution and don't even appear to be vectorized as they are full of jagged lines (someone with more knowledge of graphics and image formats feel free to correct me)
- when you scroll through the highlights post match the images are extremely dark, like you're looking through a tinted window
- Kayo Stadium is listed in Sydney
- the kickers celebrate like they've won the GF after kicking a goal from in front to cut the margin to single digits

Thats not even getting started on the gameplay - love the play the ball happening without a dummy half and then everyone standing around at every other PTB. That's just from an hour of playing around with it. I know they'll release patches or whatever but surely the basic stuff like having the referee in the defensive line marking ten metres would be picked up by someone with even the loosest grasp of rugby league? Why not spend another four months on it and release it for Xmas?

The big hits still resemble the original animations for a shoulder charge type tackle.

It’s awful. No excuse in 2025 to dish out this garbage when there are indie and small developers making AAA quality games with the same limitations as Big Ant.

To market this game like they have just to deliver this trash, is arrogant and misguided.

They haven’t even updated the current rules to function correctly.

Useless merkins

Made sure not to go over two hours with this on Steam so I could refund. Aside from the obvious glaring issues with the garbage gameplay there are a lot of little attention to detail things that make it seem like they didn’t even do basic research. Kautoga is a fullback for Parramatta apparently as well as one other I can’t recall, it defaults to Moses at 5/8 and Brown at Halfback, it has random ages slapped on some younger players. Also Ross is pretty adamant this is completely new commentary even though Vossy is regurgitating the same dialogue from two games ago, that merkin just can’t tell the truth about shit.
