Second half felt like more of the same garbage from the last 2 seasons. Robotic one-out hitups for most of the set and then hoping someone would break a tackle late in the count. First half had a lot more ball movement, which forced Canberra's D-line to shift, creating gaps and space out wide.
The previous regime lived by the second half mantra and it was flawed, so I'd love to hear what style Ryles is spruiking because today created more questions than answers.
Relax, mate. It's a trial.

The facts are pretty much the exact opposite to what you are saying, mate. Read the article I posted.
I read it. All of those stats are useless in isolation.

Some very good teams concede more penalties because it’s the way they play the game. The Roosters and Storm have done that for years - the Roosters in particular are a big part of the reason why the six again rule was introduced in 2020, because they were good enough defensively that they’d cynically concede penalties on their line and absorb attack, because it was more valuable to them to concede penalties and reset their defensive line for a full set than to allow the quick play the ball and not have a set defence.

When we concede set restarts and penalties for slow rucks, for as long as I can remember it hasn’t been for tactical reasons. It’s been because our defence isn’t good enough and gets skittled/doesn’t get onside/doesn’t properly reset.

I seldom blame referees, but I think we were pretty hard done by today. But that’s also consistent with our ruck for most of this year and for years past. We just aren’t good at controlling the ruck, and haven’t been for a long time.

Ryles talking shit. We are improving every week....no we are fkn not
Our defence sux balls because we put undue pressure on ourselves with our garbage completion
Like I keep saying if he is not knocking on the finals next season he should be thrown out on his f**king ear. He can take his green shoots with him.

What's the difference between winger and centre? Why can't he play it?
He does even more dumb shit at centre than at wing. Saints fans tore their hair out about him at centre for years. Last year he properly transitioned to wing, and it was by far and away the best he’s ever played.

Perhaps more to the point, it’s where there is a space for him with us. I don’t think he fits neatly at centre now, with Bailey and Penisini doing the job. But he’s a first choice wing.
