Our future 6

It’s not his defence he just doesn’t look comfortable at 6
That'll come I reckon, with decent players in the squad around him. Papalii won't be elite, but he just has to hold a spot better than Brown would next season, for about one third the price.

Look at Blaize Talagi turning from an absolute shocker last year into a decent enough first grader this year, with Cleary, Yeo, Edwards around him.

I liked it when we sweep the ball right (or left) and then sweeped it all the way back.

We are too compressed when we attack from the middle to the edge and make mistakes

I’ve had my reservations about Joash being a 6 from the start but if the coaching staff see something there in training then I’ll back them.

I think we are going about it the wrong way though. I find it extraordinary that we have thrown him straight into 6 in first grade, in a struggling team where he has played there very little coming through the grades. He should be getting reps up in the position in reggies imo then if he shows promise give him a run in firsts alongside Moses who can help guide him.

A pretty good take really … likely gives him a better grounding and opportunity to get some confidence up in the lower grades

Papalii needs time. He is learning to play NRL, at the same time, learn a new position which includes defending in the front line.

I agree, he looked to me like he is trying too hard to make something happen, obviously putting a lot of pressure on himself to be a play maker.

He may, or may not succeed but needs more than 2 games at 5/8 to find out. Also be interesting to see how he goes with Mitch back.
