Not at all. Garner is a superstar CAPWISE and to release him early is simply incompetent.

He is playing well. He is abover Sorrenson now. Actualy Liam Martin is behind if based on form but come finals Liam will step up. Higher ceiling

At this point if he request a release we should just do it, whats the benefit to refusing him? We keep him for one year, he is potentially not happy at the club anymore becuase we ruined the retirement deal he has arranged.

You up his offer if he is worth it. No clubs going to snow ball him. He isn't 22yrs old.
450k range is fine. His value is around that. A desperate club like Parra might offer 500k. They aren't going to to silly. My guess is he is more about contract length then dollars.

Problem is if we don't move on the old boys young ones like the twins who have signed with Dargons won't see a pathway for themselves. We have already been pillaged by basket case clubs .

False. They are 16yrs old and 4yrs away from NRL id imagine. They left based on a silly offer to good to refuse by a desperate side. Pathways might be blocked if they where 19. What positions do they even play?

Garner staying for next year is great news. If Sorro walks for a longer deal we'd basically have our best 17 locked in for 2026 with the only question mark being Alamoti/Jenkins.

I assume then we'd have Papali'i starting on an edge mostly but switching to middle if there was a middle out and if Martin/Garner/Ice are unavailable on the edge, Clarke & Armstrong get their chances off the bench. Between Origin and injuries those guys should get plenty of looks and hopefully be ready for a permanent bench role in 2027.

I wonder what we'll do about Cleary's backup.

Is Zach Lamont close to being a backup?

and Trey Mooney have reportedly been granted immediate permission by the Canberra Raiders to speak with rival teams and leave the club at the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if we recruit anyone in the upcoming off season or rely on bringing thru youngsters, some of whom are still likely to be a year or two away from potentially playing NRL.

I expect there will be some outgoings from the fringe players who clearly will be looking at better opportunities.

I still reckon Staines would be a great pickup for us. Experienced backs and fullback cover and he knows our system. I prefer him to Laurie because he can play on the wing in Cup and not block Edgar/Attard from the 1. I like Josh Kerr if we were in the market for an experienced middle but doubt he'd come.

I could be wrong but I believe we have a couple of our juniors locked in for spots in the top 30 for 2027 and beyond including Luron Patea younger brother.

I don’t think we will be looking at Charlie, there is adequate depth already given Paul Alomoti can’t even get a start.

Harry Armstrong, one of the lemoto brothers, zak clarke, tua patea and isaiah scanlan I believe all have contracts but I may be wrong

Perhaps Cole might still be in the picture. Does anyone know what position(s) he is playing in cup? Ivan may be taking the long view of giving Cole an apprenticeship in cup.

Toelau and Billy Scott will both be promoted to the top 30 next-season.
Fale and Clarke on development contracts next year.
Edgar currently on a development contract and training with the top 30.
Armstrong on year 1 of a 3-year deal. Not sure when he moves into the development squad.

Tua Patea - Top 30 by 2027.
