It’s not a job interview though …..

Look, if you think it’s appropriate to act that way, then that’s your opinion …we’ll agree to disagree
I don't know what is the appropriate way to act.. I wanted a second NZ team!
But if you received their bid, decided on another candidate ( in this case Perth). I'm assuming there was an Email or letter thanking them for thier interest and regretful decline ect...
what would have been the point in a meeting?
Seems like a waste of time for both parties..

Tell me what a meeting does in this instance?

Haha … are we still arguing over opinions around etiquette? The other bids were in town at the time with the expectation of a meeting … the Mayor and the stadium WILL be a partner of the NRL from next season

South Brisbane won't affect dolphins
The Dolphins are playing mostly out of Suncorp stadium- that's their home long term. Anyone within travelling distance to that stadium is thier customer or potential customers, each year they'll add more and grow their fanbase.
In fact thier actually trying to appeal to everyone from Mackay to Beenleigh and out to Charleville.. they're all potential Dolphins fans ( customers)
If they can capture enough fans over the next ten years or twenty, the more long term success they are assured.

Undermining their potential fanbase by adding a direct competitor while they are in their formative years would be just plan STUPID.

Obviously Pvl put nz2 on the back burner hence why he didn’t meet the bids

The last quote said team 20 could be rushed in if png and Perth are ok

All roads lead to Christchurch

If the bids aren’t ok then the nrl will own it which I highly doubt as by then they should’ve offloaded the bears

And what about the stadium ? They still had time to go there themselves?

They were there for the test match

They’ll get more opportunities to see the stadium next year

Priority now is the tv deal. Once they lock in 3 to 4 billion then the next issue to be sorted is the future salary cap level and how much clubs will get

That will probably bubble along till the middle of next year

You need to factor in with the next tv deal a salary cap of 17 million whilst clubs gets 27 million will change the landscape for expansion teams

Just to be clear.
You do know that the NRL are not in business with the bidders. They're not in business with the Mayor. They're not leasing the stadium.

I'm really struggling to understand why They're supposed to be appeasing people who they have no business with.
Not one dollar, seriously.

Have a read of the article on page 792 of the New Zealand thread .Offence was taken by the Mayor… the NRL didn’t even respond to an invitation of a tour of the stadium
