Smart people listen, collect information, ask questions, learn and admit when they are wrong. Then change.
I used to think every club should be able to just buy the players they need at reasonable prices, and keep all their own juniors without paying overs, just like most of you guys still do. But like you guys, I was wrong.

I’ve since realised that most clubs can’t do this, which means that the clubs who can do it have some other market advantages. To say that most clubs are run by idiots is a lazy way to assign blame. If they’re such idiots, how did they all get these roles ahead of the supposedly smarter candidates who keep missing out on these jobs?

Jack Bird’s Tigers future in doubt as club grants early release
Former NSW Origin star Jack Bird has been given permission to leave the Tigers with a year remaining on his contract after struggling to cement a regular spot.

It is understood that Bird is free to leave the Tigers at the end of the season if he is able to find a deal elsewhere despite having 12 months left on his contract. It comes after the former NSW player joined the Tigers on a two year deal after being granted an early release from his St George Illawarra contract.
The deal is worth about $400,000 a season. Bird has struggled to recapture the form which saw him earn five games for NSW between 2016-17 having been part of Cronulla’s premiership winning side in 2016.

100%....we have all been fooled that we are going good...we are still way behind most teams.
We are playing a mostly nsw cup soufs team and being embarrassed
Criticism of the recruitment guys is frowned upon, first question is how we have basically a full top 30 roster for 2026. How did they look at it and think it’s sufficient. If you sign 6 reserve graders as we do, maybe 1 possibly 2 step up , a big club by most measures and a roster like we have is questionable really

How can anyone believe we don’t need to sign a at least 3 decent players for 2026, the current roster will remain below 10th unless strengthened
I keep saying, we need to raid England. Players like Lewis, Welsby, that young African forward in Wigan, French, Williams. Look at Canberra, they've found gems. The worst part is Souths bought Dodd for overs and now everyone thinks it's a huge risk. Dodd was never that great. In fact he was playing reserve grade before he came over

it’s 27/30 but Matterson and Hands may find a new spot in 2026
Apparently there are 29 players signed for 2026, have to see those players mentioned sign elsewhere to create more space. We have a roster than won’t challenge for anywhere above 10 th until it’s restructured, we need some above average signings to bring our better than average juniors through.

wait and see if the front office can achieve that.

Let's hope with Lane gone Simonsson gone, matterson and Hands go too.
Have no concern if Lomax goes too.
